45. The L word

When I woke up the next morning, I was alone on the bed, making me wonder where those two men slept. Even as my eyes fluttered open, I was hesitant to stand up. I didn’t have much energy but I also didn’t want to remain in bed all day, but when my gaze strayed to the clock, I sat up in surprise. It was two o’clock in the afternoon:

I rushed to the bathroom to take my bath and as soon as I was done, I put on one of Damon’s shirts and trotted out of the room, expecting to see Damon in the living room, but he wasn’t there and neither was Juan. I checked all the rooms in the house, frowning when I didn’t see a trace of them.

I decided to check the rooftop. When I climbed up and pushed the door open, I came across Juan. It was one of those days where it wasn’t too cold so he was donned only in a pair of Damon’s sweatpants. His hands were above his head as he lay on the beach-like chair, as though he was sunbathing, except there was no sun.

Damon was nowhere to be foun
