26: Went As Planned

"Well, this is more of a family conflict than a dinner party, as you said earlier, so I'm not involving myself in this," one of the elders said, standing up to leave.

"Neither do I want to be part of it either," the other one followed.

As soon as they exited the hall, a smile crept onto Conan's mother's lips, and she threw her hand into the air. "Great, it went all well as planned," she remarked, throwing Conan a frown before leaving, leaving me and Conan alone in the hall in utmost silence.

I sighed in confusion and dropped my fork against the plate, as the incident that just happened made me lose my appetite for the food in front of me, even though I had not eaten before coming here.

Conan was traumatized as well. He stared at me continuously with a pitiful gaze.

After a few seconds of silence between us, he finally broke the cold silence that filled the room.
