SEVENTY FOUR

Calvin panics. He was speeding like a madman through the bustling Seattle streets tonight to get Hazel to the hospital. Since then he hadn't stopped glancing at Hazel who was sitting beside him with an uneasy heavy breath. He was afraid that the breath would suddenly disappear from Hazel's lungs. He was afraid that her stomach would not move up and down again like now.

When he had to pass the line of cars in front of him, he immediately pressed his horn hard to get all the cars out of his way. He was carrying a dying woman. The woman could die at any time if he was too late to take her to the hospital. God, he really regretted his rash act, suddenly turning left without giving any sign. He startled the mini van speeding in the opposite direction and reflexively turned the steering wheel into Hazel's lane. Then the woman.... the woman died because of him.
