Chapter 44: Eighteenth Birthday

Joshua let out a small joyous laughter and closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Emily turned her head to look at him. She thought, “Was he really dreaming?”

Joshua was sleeping quietly in front of her.

She brushed his hair off of his face. She watched as he was sleeping so peacefully. She smiled as this was the first time, they had slept next to each other, except for that night.

Emily frowned as she thought about that night.

It was Emily’s eighteenth birthday. She didn’t have many friend, so no one called or text her to tell her happy birthday. Except for her five uncles. And one additional text that caught her off guard was Joshua. Joshua texted her early that morning telling her happy birthday. His text message left her heart pounding happily all day long.

“Oh, Joshua,” whispers Emily, talking to her cell phone.

Emily fell backward into her bed, with her cell phone in her face.

“Even though you had moved on and had a girlfriend of his own, you still remembered me,” she thought.
