CHAPTER SIX

Lindsey fell to the floor in the pool of blood that poured out of her body. I ran to her limp body and kneeling beside her, I placed her head on my lap.

"Linds..." I cried as she went unconscious. Her eyes were closed and I couldn’t feel her heartbeat anymore. Pain and agony filled me. I cried, hugging her to my chest. The stench of blood filled my nostril and my hands trembled when I noticed her blood on them. My eyes were wide as I shook her, again and again, to wake her up, to run away with me. A part of me hoped that she would wake up any minute but she didn’t. Minutes passed by and I just stared at her while tears continuously rolled down my cheeks. He shot her three damn times, that son of a bastard killed my sister.

I stood up and stretched my neck to him. He stood with his hands hanging on each side, still holding the same gun with which he shot her.

“You…” I strolled towards him and stepped in front of him. My eyes focused on his. He didn’t blink once and never looked anywhere but my eyes, with his face void of emotions. I inhaled sharply and clenched my teeth together. My eyes filled with rage and my heart hammering inside, I slapped him with all my strength. He was taken aback as he never expected the blow. His face turned sideways and his hand went over his cheek. I heard the clicks of the guns as all the men pointed them at me. The room temperature decreased to minus two that didn’t scare me but when his sharp eyes landed on me, I shivered.

"You—" He tried to say something, but I cut him off.

"Why...why did you kill her?" I shouted, grabbing him by the collar. "Why did you do it?" I shook him, while he stayed cold silent. He stared at me with his eyes boiling in anger. Grabbing both my hands that held his collar, he forced me to let him go.  With each passing second, I was seething in anger. I clenched my hands into a fist and punched him but before my fist could come in contact with his tight jaw, he grabbed my wrist with his hand and pointed to the gun on my forehead with another.

I couldn't help but laugh at myself. This whole pathetic self of me. Confusion flickered in his eyes, but it disappeared within seconds as he regained his poker face. He let go of my wrist violently and I jerked backward. I looked again at my sister. Her lifeless body on the floor reminded the deadly scene that happened just a few minutes before.

I looked at the monster in front of me, who had taken the only family I had left. But deep down in my heart, the guilt was eating me. I knew it was all my fault. I could have saved my sister if only I had not run away. I should've stayed with my sister. I lifted my hand and placed the tip of his gun on my forehead. I was scared. I was scared as hell from his gaze that was boring holes in me but I would never acknowledge my fear in front of him. Never.

"Now pull the trigger," I bit out, looking straight into his eyes.

He scrutinized me. His eyes searched mine and I held my breath in apprehension. I closed my eyes and waited for him to pull the trigger and end me with it but all he did was grabbed a fist of my hair with his hand and pulling me closer until our faces were just inches apart.

"Death will be too good for you," he said every word laced with venom. A groan left my mouth as his hold on my hair tightened. "But don't you think you can escape me. I'll make your life a living hell," he assured and with that, he released his hold on my hair and took a step back. Before I knew it he had shot me in the leg. I cried out in pain as I dropped to the floor.

"And that is to make sure you won't run again," his lips lifted into a smirk while my eyes stung with tears. I felt the world around me shifting. Darkness crept around me but I turned my eyes to Lindsey. My eyes rolled back and my eyelids started to feel heavy, I tried to reach out to my sister. I had the feeling that I wouldn’t be able to see her again. The last thing I heard before welcoming the darkness was his bitter voice saying, "Take her." and with that, I closed my eyes and lost myself into oblivion.
