41. Finding Someone Else

Tallulah's POV

“You need to take it slow, Lula. You're not thinking straight.” His deep voice sang into my hearing.

I scoffed, knowing I had earned his attention and maybe a little of his care.

“Get out of my way.” I spat, pushing against his chest and storming out of the kitchen door.

I could hear him calling my name loudly from behind me as I swam deeper into the music-filled air and crowd of drunk people.

His voice became indistinct as I headed straight for the dining section where the bartender’s counter was set up. Reaching the counter, I reached for the stack of disposable cups.

“Tequila.” I sputtered, leaning against the counter for support.

My eyes widened as I watched the alcohol fill the cup until the liquid was at its brim. And with one lift, I overturned the cup over my lips and gulped down its contents with my eyes shut.
