Chapter 19 Found

Lilith

"Bye, girls. I'll see you tomorrow," I said, waving good-bye to my soon-to-be sorority sisters.

"Pledge, make sure you're at the house at 7AM," said Amelia, a big sister of the sorority. "Don't worry, Hell Week will soon be over and I'm hoping to see you sworn in as a neophyte, Sis." I nodded my head before unlocking the door to my car.

I watched the young girl Kiaria enter the car of Io Hemming, Alpha of Sacred Moon Pack, and drive away. Once she left the school premises, I excused myself from the irritating flock of twittering girls from the sorority I had pledged to join and climbed into my Mercedes-Benz which had given me status as part of the elite on campus.

As I drove away from the University and well away from keen eyes, I reverted back to my true self. I stopped at a red light at the intersection and took a moment to look at myself in the rear view mirror. I was now old. The wrinkles on my face were evident and the color of my hair was slowly changing to white. Gone was the vibrant energy I had once had during my youth. Only sadness followed me wherever I went.

After almost eighteen years of looking for Celeste's daughter, I can now say I have definitely found her. I noticed she wore the locket, one of the priceless heirlooms proving her birthright. Even without the locket, I assumed she to be the long lost daughter of Celeste. Kiaria was almost an identical copy of Celeste except for her smile. Her smile was Blake's.

A few years after Celeste and Blake's deaths, I decided to disappear. There were a few reasons why I left Magnus and my witch sisters. First and foremost, Magnus should have never gone back on his word. He had promised Blake would be mine, but Blake had died that night. To add insult to injury, Magnus had said loud enough for everyone to hear that Blake would never ever learn to love me.

Secondly, I had gotten sick and tired of Magnus' preoccupation of finding the lost Canary diamond ring which was Celeste's most prized possession. He could not understand the ring would continue to be lost and will be found only when it is time. The ring will show itself to only one person, the daughter of Celeste, and no one else.

Third, I grew tired of his abduction of Omegas and his tyranny over wolves. I had repeatedly advised him to leave the wolves alone and focus on the destruction of humankind, however he derived pleasure from creating chaos and mayhem among the wolves. As for me, I wanted to repent so I could be subsequently pardoned from the torment and suffering I had caused. He and my witch sisters laughed at me when I voiced out my sentiments. They had said, once you have gone bad there was no turning back. That I didn't believe to be true. Because we no longer saw eye to eye, I decided to leave. I disappeared, taking with me, all the spoils and riches in his vault.

I knew Magnus would never forgive me for leaving him with nothing, but I knew he would be able to earn back everything I took. Especially, when I gave him the formula of the 'No-Scent' elixir to mass produce and distribute among the rogues around the world. After a few years, I had heard that he purchased a big area of land to build his own city. Now, Wolf City as it is called, is a thriving entertainment and recreational area mostly inhabited by rogues. It is located along the boundaries of California and Nevada about fifteen hours from Montana by car which wasn't very far.

Alone and with no sense of purpose after leaving Magnus, I decided to make do my promise to Celeste and look for her daughter. Celeste and I were once bestfriends, but I, of course, young and in love, had done the unspeakable to her. I had betrayed her by disguising myself as her and parading naked in front of Blake when he was drunk after celebrating the alliance he had forged among the Great Packs of North. She had caught me and as punishment, she had placed a searing mark on my back by way of lightning, so I would never forget I had betrayed her. The mark throbbed constantly, reminding me every day of my betrayal.

I assumed whoever Celeste entrusted to take the baby could not have gone far so I focused my search within five states, mainly, Wyoming, Idaho, North and South Dakota, and Montana itself. Since I believed Celeste would not entrust her baby to humans, I began my search within the numerous packs located in these five states whose Alpha had an alliance with Autumn Moon. When I couldn't find a pup who was born during the day Celeste and Blake died or at least resembled them in any way, I decided to check all other wolf packs in the vicinity, however I also couldn't find any pup that fit the bill. I went further and further away from the Midwest, first towards the West Coast then towards the East Coast, but I just couldn't find a wolf that could pass as Celeste's son or daughter. Many years of my life I spent living in different states searching for a clue. I almost had given up, until one day, while I was seated in front of the television figuring out where to go next, I saw her on TV.

She was shown fleetingly on the news, working as a volunteer for a foundation. She was shown on TV helping those displaced by the wildfires in Montana. She looked exactly like Celeste. I felt so angry at myself. I had wasted years looking for her when all this time she was still there in the state where it all started. I quickly returned to Montana, praying no one else had seen her on the news.

When I arrived in Whitefish, I was surprised to discover she was the daughter of a bi-racial human couple. She was beautiful and smart compared to the low-life scum who surrounded her in school and called her names. Her parents were awfully rich which made her a cut above the rest. Even with such attributes, she attended one of those underfunded public high schools, drove an old and tattered car, and never once did she date one of those poor degenerates in her school. A girl like her could have every one falling to her feet, yet she never flaunted herself nor did she use her parents' influence to get her way. She had a good head on her shoulders, something I believed came from the human mother who raised her. I don't think Celeste would have been able to raise her to be unspoilt, sincere and humble.

During her spare time, she would volunteer to help the needy. This I heard began when she swung at someone with a hockey stick. That someone was a blonde, blue-eyed young lady who had made a false and malicious claim that the Wright patriarch was guilty of embezzlement. Unfortunately for that envious young lady, Kiaria's human father was a constant donor of the school which made Kiaria practically untouchable. Kiaria got detention while the girl, well, she was grateful nothing happened to her face.

I disguised myself as a new student, sprayed on the 'no-scent' elixir to hide my smell and kept my head low so I could watch her. I was shocked that someone like her was bullied in school by human kids who had no sense of respect. She appeared to ignore them, but as I watched her closely, she wasn't entirely the do-gooder she-wolf I thought her to be. When she thought no one was watching, I saw in her eyes how she detested high school and noticed she kept a keen eye on those who bullied her, looking for a way to get back at them.

I had witnessed Kiaria's various mischievous escapades while in school. She was a cunning and patient prankster, waiting for the right moment to humiliate whomever was on her list.

There was a time in science class where we had to test if an egg was good or bad using density. Kiaria took a rotten egg from our science class and placed it in the jacket of a boy who kept bumping into her and many other students when they happened to be in his way. Well, he bumped into a fellow student who had blocked his path and for the rest of the day, he stank, owing to the rotten egg that had cracked open in his jacket. He was given the nickname 'skunk' for the rest of the school year and he refrained from bumping into anyone again.

When she mentioned she would be enrolling at a university near home to some friends of hers, I followed suit and did the same. I used my magic to know her schedule and enrolled in some of her classes. I had seen a couple of sorority sisters speaking to her, so I decided to join only finding out Kiaria had refused to join. It was fine. Becoming a sorority sister would allow me to stay on campus where I could keep watch without her ever knowing.

As I drove, I noticed a Tesla enter the drive way of a hotel. Of course. Io Hemming had brought Kiaria to his hotel. I disguised myself once again and parked my car across the street and entered a cafe so I could watch. If what I assumed was true and they were fated mates, it won't be long until Magnus comes. The traitors on the Council of Wolves will make sure to inform Magnus that the one wolf who is prophesied to kill him is alive and well.

I had to find a way to become friends with her, warn her and maybe teach her how to use her powers.

A celestial wolf is rare and I will not allow Magnus to kill her.

I will keep my promise to Celeste or die trying.
