Chapter 25 Elemental Magic

Io

Kiaria had powers and even as a beginner her strength was immense.

She walked past the yellow tape, all the way to the building like no one even saw her. I thought I was going to die from a panic attack if it weren't for my wolf telling me Selene said there was nothing to worry about. If Kiaria willed it, it would happen.

Then after an hour, I saw Kiaria and Winston come out of the building. I was so relieved nothing had happened to her. I had thought she had completed her quest and would walk back to where she left me and Marcus, but she waved at her father and gestured to call someone before going back inside the bank through the main entrance while her father was escorted into a dark van parked infront of his building.

I wanted to rip the heads of the police officers for just standing around, obviously doing nothing to take down the thieves. When a sudden noise of glass shattering into pieces was heard, the police officer, who was in charge of keeping the people back, ducked and covered his head. Such a coward.

"What's happening at the Wright's?" A blonde young lady asked from behind me.

"There's a robbery at the bank," I answered. "You look familiar. Have we met?" I asked.

"Michelle, remember? You're Kiaria's friend, right?" She looked at me and smiled. I nodded my head. "Where's Kiaria?"

"She's uhm..." I struggled to answer her question when, suddenly, a streak of lightning split the dark sky. I looked up towards the heavens and noticed the moon that was shining just a moment ago was now covered by dark clouds. Thunder rumbled after the flash of lightning causing the glass of the windows to vibrate and the ground to shake.

"Wow! The sky looks like it's going to unleash its anger any moment. I gotta go. I don't wanna get drenched. Bye!" And just like that, Michelle quickly made her way back through the crowd while I stayed behind with Marcus.

"Alpha, the storm seems to be upon us. The streaks of lightning are surrounding the building," Marcus said, pointing to the little flickers of light spreading through the dark clouds looming above us. The cool autumn breeze had suddenly become a powerful wind, swirling around us, carrying with it dust, debris, and anything lying in its path.

I checked my phone for the weather forecast and it read clear skies. It was strange. If there would be a change in the weather, it would not be as murderous as it was at the moment.

A flash of lightning hit the building causing the nearest windows to shatter and break. The electricity went out throughout the building including the lights of the nearby lamp posts. The crowd of people ran for cover, screaming, but the sounds of their screams were drowned out from the sudden torrent of rain that gushed down so angrily.

Marcus and I stood in the rain, waiting. The police officers around the building were still in place even if they were dangerously close to the flickers of lightning that continued to gain momentum before striking the ground below.

"Alpha, the High Priestess Celeste had the gift of the Elements. She could bend the forces of nature to her will, one being the weather. I fear, Alpha, the Luna...she is very angry."

"Marcus, are you saying this storm is because of Kiaria?" I asked, bewildered. She had only become a bona-fide wolf yesterday. She was only beginning to tap into her gifts. If she could do this now as a beginner, what will happen when she becomes skilled in her craft?

"Yes, Alpha. One thing about elemental magic, it begins with emotions. Luna is angry and so the weather reflects what she is feeling. I pity the thieves who have angered her. They will not survive lightning," Marcus said, matter-of-factly. "No need to worry, Alpha. Luna is quite capable. However, I would suggest to never get her jealous. We don't know how she'll react."

Another streak of lighting zipped down again, hitting the building. This time all the windows in the front shattered. Thunder rumbled almost immediately after it had struck. I watched as the blinds swayed, hoping I could get a glimpse of what was happening inside. While it was chaotic outside, it was so quiet inside. It was quite unsettling.

Suddenly, the doors of the main entrance of the bank opened and one by one, men were thrown out like pieces of garbage. Shockingly, all of them were utterly and completely naked.

To the crowd's delight, the rain finally stopped and the clouds moved to show the moon. The people once again gathered around the yellow police tape.

To the utter horror of the naked men, the moonlight shone on them. They all quickly laid flat on the wet pavement to hide their penises.

The crowd of people were laughing and pointing at the men. Well, if they didn't get convicted for robbing a bank, at least they'll be locked up for indecent exposure.

The police officers immediately handcuffed the naked men and the SWAT Officers rushed inside the building. Soon, people emerged from the building, one of them, looking scared and harassed, was Kiaria. Winston ran out of the van and wrapped her in his arms. The crowd, upon seeing the exchange between father and daughter, burst into applause.

I slid under the yellow tape and ran to them. I didn't care if the police were yelling for me to stop. I just had to get to Kiaria. She saw me and ran into my outstretched arms. I hugged her tightly, not wanting to let go.

"You will under any circumstances never do that again without me. You practically gave me a heart attack," I whispered in her ear. "So tell me, what happened to all their clothes?"

She lifted her head from my shoulder and smiled mischievously. "I wanted to give them a taste of their own medicine," she answered. I gave her a puzzled look, not quite understanding what she meant. She shrugged her shoulders. "They assaulted the women hostages, practically ripped their clothes to shreds. I just wanted to return the favor."

I looked over her head and I saw several female officers placing towels over the female hostages whose clothes were torn. So this wasn't just a regular heist. The thieves were also sex offenders.

"So, do you know who the mastermind of this money heist is?" I asked her.

"They have a boss named Magnus," she replied. Marcus gasped behind us while I kept a straight face.

"So they are rogues." I turned to Marcus and gave him my phone. "Marcus call the High Elder before these mongrels escape. The rogues should be placed in a detention cell of silver and the only one who has the capability to do that is the High Elder." Marcus nodded his head and proceeded to make the call.

"Alpha, the High Elder." Marcus handed me my phone while Winston took Kiaria to his side to speak with Sakura on Kiaria's phone.

"High Elder Alfred Evans, it is I, Alpha Io Hemming. I have a delicate matter to discuss with you. It is imperative something be done," I said.

"If this is about your Mating Ceremony, Alpha Hemming, I will be officiating it on Sunday," he said.

"That's great news, High Elder. However, that is not why I have called. There was an attempted robbery at Winston Wright's bank here in Montana. All the suspects have been apprehended, however it has come to my knowledge they are all rogues," I explained.

"Rogues? Are you certain?" The High Elder asked.

"Yes, High Elder. My soon to be Luna was the one who apprehended all the rogues," I said. There was a moment of silence.

"Are the press there? Have they taken a photo or a video of her?" He asked.

"I would suspect yes," I replied.

"I will be flying to Montana now. Please expect me at the Moonlight Palace around midnight," he said and hung up.

The High Elder will be flying here to meet Kiaria. I was speechless. The High Elder only did this one other time...when he went to see Magnus or so I've heard.

"Eveything alright? You look like you've seen a ghost," Kiaria said. I blinked, shook my head and smiled at her.

"There is an important person who will be flying in tonight," I said. I looked at Winston who was trying to console Sakura. "Everything alright at your end?"

"Mom is in hysterics. She'll meet us down at the police station. I hope your parents won't mind waiting," Kiaria said. My parents! I almost forgot.

"Marcus, any word on my parents and the men?" I asked.

Marcus took out his phone and shook his head.

"No word yet, Alpha. It's still early. I think they will be arriving at 9PM."

"Good. We have enough time. Come on, we'll go to the police station so they can take your statement." I looked at Winston and Kiaria. "Winston, Kiaria didn't help you. And you Kiaria, you were downstairs hiding from the thieves. Let's ride in my car so you can get your stories straight."

High Elder

I dialed the number of Professor Johnson. He was an old friend, a wolf mage, who I had sent to Montana when I saw Kiaria Wright on the news helping victims of the forest fires a few years back. She was a splitting image of her mother with the same golden eyes.

At first, Professor Johnson said there was nothing remarkable about Kiaria, that she just looked like Celeste. He said he suspected she was human for she did not have a characteristic wolf scent. However, he did praise her for her good grades and humble demeanor even though she was the daughter of a very wealthy man.

That all changed when he saw the locket and Io Hemming at the University, the day after her eighteenth birthday. He confirmed Kiaria was indeed High Priestess Celeste's daughter, information that was more valuable than all the gold in the world.

"Yes. How may I be of service?" Professor Johnson said. We had a strict no name policy.

"I will be arriving in Montana. Have you been watching the news regarding the robbery?" I asked.

"Yes. She is on some footage however she appears to be a hostage."

"The thieves were rogues and she was the one who stopped them," I whispered.

"That just means he will be here soon," Professor Johnson said before sighing. "What do you propose we do?"

"Protect her at all costs," I answered.
