Chapter 24 Rescue Mission

Kiaria

Before I could take down these rogues, I had to do something about the cameras the SWAT team were setting up. Selene said if I willed it, it will happen. I just needed to focus and focus I did. I wanted the cameras to go Poltergeist on the police.

I searched the utility room for something to hit them in the head with. These were wolves... and the stick at the end of a mop wasn't going to do any damage.

There was some sort of locker type closet at the end of the room. If there were tools, that's probably where the cleaning staff would stash them. I was in luck. It was unlocked and stored inside were wrenches. I took the biggest heavy duty pipe wrench, hoping it would serve as a weapon.

I had to think of a way to separate the two rogues. I decided to make the door creak. It worked.

"Check that out, will yah," said one. I decided to name him Rogue Two. "It's probably the police. Remember kill them all.

"Alert the others if I don't come back," said the other which I named Rogue One.

I waited behind the door for Rogue One to enter the utility room. Once he entered, I hit him on the head with the wrench and watched him fall to the floor. I knew the noise I made would alert his companion, I was just hoping he wouldn't mind-link his friends.

I quickly pulled the unconscious rogue to the side and covered him with a piece of tarp that had an old ad of my dad's bank. When I was done, I waited again, behind the door.

"Yo, Bob, you here?" I heard Rogue Two ask. "Dude, where the fuck are you?" I didn't move. I just stood there with the wrench in my hands. I heard him sniff the air to catch a whiff of his friend, but the overpowering smell of the chemicals stored in the utility room masked the unconscious rogue's scent, making it impossible for Rogue Two to locate him. I saw the door knob turn slowly and all of a sudden, Rogue Two bursted in, the door almost hitting me in the face.

"Stay calm. You're invisible," Selene said, reminding me. I steadied myself as he walked past me towards his tarp covered companion. With all my strength, I brought the wrench down on his head. However, unlike his other friend who was knocked out by a single blow, he fell to his knees, reaching over where I hit him on the head with his hand. He looked at the blood which stained his fingers and for a second there, I thought he was going to shoot me, but the sight of blood made him faint. He collapsed on the floor, his gun sliding towards my feet.

I took out a piece of tissue I always had in my pocket just in case I had to blow my nose, placed it over the gun, and picked it up. It was my first time to see and actually touch a gun. It was surprisingly heavy. I tossed it in a bucket filled with water and bleach. I decided I should do the same to Rogue One's gun which was still in his hand. I grabbed garbage ties that I had found on one of the shelves and binded their hands and feet. The only way they could get out of those was if they shifted. Hopefully, they wouldn't. Two down.

"Nicely done," Selene said. "Now, enter your father's office."

"I'm nervous. What if someone shoots at me?" I asked Selene.

"Crouch low as you enter," was all she said. I inhaled and exhaled deeply. Here goes nothin'.

I walked out the utility room with my trusty wrench, down the hall to my dad's office. I placed my ear on the door. I needed to know how many were inside.

"I want my money, Mr. Wright," said an erratic voice belonging to a man. "What's taking so long?"

"I told you these things take time. I don't have ten million dollars sitting in the vault. You need to be patient. I have requested my money to be transferred to your account. Once they give me the approval, all I need is to press this button here and the money is all yours," I heard my father explain.

"You have one hour. If I don't get that money by then, I will have my men who are waiting outside to go kill your family." There was a pause. "Your daughter is very pretty. My boss may pay me extra if I bring her to him."

So there was only one rogue inside. I tried the door knob and to my astonishment, it was unlocked. I crouched down and opened it just enough for me to pass through. I slid in and situated myself beside the plant at my father's door, leaving the door open.

"What the fuck?! Why are you fuckers opening the door?" This rogue, Rogue Three, was a big man with huge muscles. He was really ugly and scary looking. His dark hair was slicked back, his nose was big, his lips were stained black and he had small beady eyes. He had a huge mole near his right eye that had hairs coming out of it. He smelled way worse than the other two. He was sweating profusely which made his scent more pungent. By the way he carried himself, he looked like he may be team leader.

He opened the door and stuck his head out. My father, who could see me, looked at me, shock written all over his his face. I placed my finger to my lips to tell him to keep quiet. He nodded his head and changed the expression on his face.

Since Rogue Three couldn't find his men who were supposed to be guarding the door, he walked outside, sniffing the air to catch their scent. He stood near the huge windows which lined the wall infront of my father's office. I wondered if the police had snipers because now was the best time to shoot.

"Hit him in the face with the wrench and kick him out the window," Selene said. I did some martial arts when I was kid. It's been a while since I did some training, but I still knew how to execute a good kick.

I rushed towards him, raising the wrench and hitting him in his face. I then kicked him in the balls and with all my might, I kicked him on the chest. He lost his balance and flew out through the window, the glass making a loud shattering noise which was followed by a loud thud as the huge rogue hit the pavement.

I ran back inside of my dad's office and hugged my dad.

"Kiaria, how were you able to enter the building?" He asked.

"I'll tell you all about it later. First things first, I need to get you out of the building," I told him.

"But my employees, they're all downstairs. Those men are going to kill them! I can't just leave them here," my dad said.

"I'll deal with them. Right now, I need you to get out of the building. Come on." I grabbed his hand and pulled him out of his office. "Lock it so no one can enter." He nodded his head. He locked the door and placed his security code in.

I took him to the utility elevator where the first two rogues were still laying on the floor, unconscious.

"Dad, let's use the utility elevator. I'll escort you outside then I'll go through the front door and help the other people inside." We took the utility elevator to the basement. When the doors opened, I poked my head to check if the coast was clear. I saw several police officers pointing their guns.

"Dad, please yell help me!"

"Help me! I'm Winston Wright. Please help me!" He added a "I'm scared shitless" tone to his voice. Good job!

The police officers approached the elevator and raised their guns at us.

"Put your hands on your head." My father followed their instructions. "Step out of the elevator slowly." My father stepped out into the open cautiously. I followed him and looked up into the sky. It was already night time.

'Lieutenant, we have Winston Wright in custody," a Swat Officer said through radio.

"Bring him in," a woman's voice said.

"What about my daughter?" My dad asked the police.

"Sir, is your daughter inside the building?" The police officer said. I nodded my head so my dad would follow and he did.

"Lieutenant, we have a problem. Winston Wright's daughter is in the building. Sir, we'll get your daughter out. Men, take him to the Lieutenant."

I walked with them until we got to the front. I waved at my dad and gestured to him to call Mom. I then proceeded to the entrance of the building. Three down. I needed to finish off seven more.

I tried to open the main doors which were covered by blinds. Locked. How am I suppose to get in without making a sound? Think, Kiaria, think.

"If you will it, it will happen. Focus, Kiaria," Selene said.

"I can unlock doors with my mind?" I asked.

"You are the celestial wolf, the most powerful priestess of wolf kind. If you will it, everything will bend to your will. Now, unlock the door," Selene coaxed.

"Alright then. Door unlock yourself." I pushed on the door and it opened. I heaved a sigh of relief. I slid in and gently closed it behind me.

I heard sobs echoing through the main lobby of the bank. The ground floor had a large enough waiting area infront of the tellers' counter. I still had the wrench with me, tucked securely under my armpit. I reached for the handle of the wrench and prepared myself to use it. Wrenches make fantastic weapons. Note to self...I will always bring a good sized wrench wherever I go.

"Big C, come in, Big C," said someone to my side. Aha, Rogue Four. "Fuck!"

"What's wrong?" Another rogue, Rogue Five, asked while walking towards him.

"I can't get Big C on the radio. I need to head upstairs," said Rogue Four.

"You heard Big C. He needs us to stay here," Rogue Five said while taking a peek through the blinds.

Rogue Four did the same and took a peek through the blinds. I rushed towards them and hit them both on their head with my trusty wrench. They both fell on top of each other which alerted three more who were walking around on the other side. Guns up, they slowly approached their two unconscious team members.

"What happened? Did the police shoot at them?" One of the three, Rogue Six, asked, looking around, pointing his gun at the glass.

Another, Rogue Seven, bent down and checked. "Weird. They're out cold. What's just happened here?"

"I told you we should have shot the hostages when we heard the glass break earlier! The police are going to kill us!" Rogue Eight exclaimed. He looked really nervous.

They were panicking. Good. That meant they were distracted. I positioned myself behind Rogue Six and struck Rogue Seven who was infront of him with my wrench. He collapsed on top of the others on the floor.

"Why the hell did you do that for?!" Rogue Eight exclaimed. Rogue Eight aimed his gun at Rogue Six. "I should shoot you right now, you traitor!"

"I didn't do that!" Rogue Six yelled.

"Then who did? It's just you and me here!" Rogue Eight argued.

I heard footsteps behind me. Two more rogues came running towards their team members. I moved out of their way.

"What happened here?" Rogue Nine asked.

"Links here hit Dan on the head," Rogue Eight answered.

"It wasn't me! I swear!" Rogue Six lowered his gun and raised his hands in the air.

"Knock it off, will yah. I can't get a hold of Big C, then you guys pull off this shit?!" Rogue Ten said. "We're running out of time. Everything in the vault are already in the bags. If we don't leave now, the police are going to do a breech. You know how Magnus doesn't like rogues on the news. If the police don't kill us, he definitely will."

"Choose a couple of hostages we can use as a shield and leave these fuckers here. It's night already so we have enough cover. Let's go," said Rogue Nine. He was actually a good-looking fellow and didn't smell as bad as the others. I'd let them leave, but they were going to take hostages. No can do.

I followed them to the vault and found all the hostages there. Some were women who had pieces of their clothing ripped apart. One was a young teller who I recognized. She was sobbing into her hand while trying to piece her dress together so her bra wouldn't show. The money wasn't enough they had to violate women too?

I felt the anger bubble inside of me like the time that schoolmate of mine said my mother was a skanky slut from an Oriental whore den.

Suddenly, thunder rumbled from a distance.
