Chapter 3:

RYAN

I couldn't stop staring. Yes, she was looking hot and sexy, driving my thoughts wild. Her waist swayed at each step she took, and the smile on her face was evident, complimenting her beauty.

"This doesn't look like a birthday party." She said, her voice echoed melodically to my ears.

"It's an elite party, what do you expect?" I looked in the direction, then I saw Victor, he was standing with a friend. "Give me a minute, I'll be back."

I left to call Victor. "She's here."

We returned back to where Sarah stood, upon seeing her, she smiled at me. "You never told me you had a sexy girlfriend."

I shook my head, smiling. "She isn't my girlfriend, we just met this morning."

"I don't believe you."

"I don't need to explain myself to you." We got to where she stood. "Sarah, meet Victor. Victor, this is Sarah." I introduced.

"Hello, beautiful." Victor praised, I couldn't see the lust in his eyes.

Sarah smiled in return, taking hold of his hand as she returned the handshake. "So, Ryan told me about you." She nods her head. "I have a vacant application, I don't know if you'd fancy it, but it's a good school."

"Tell me about it."

Victor looked at me, giving me a sign to excuse them. I glared at Sarah before giving them their privacy.

I went to the bar stand, pouring a bottle of whiskey for myself. I didn't realize how desperate I was for their conversation to come to an end.

It was taking longer than I expected, and I was hoping Victor wasn't going to take the conversation to an extreme.

Could that be jealousy I was feeling?

I tried to keep my thoughts busy, but every second that passes by with Victor still talking to her made my heart beat.

After what seemed like eternity, Victor tapped my shoulder. I turned to see him smiling at me. "You just found yourself a perfect girlfriend."

"I already told you, she's not my girlfriend. Besides, she has a fiance."

"However, you're lucky to have her as a friend."

"How did it go?"

He shrugged. "Worked out well. Let's hope she gets the job." I nodded my head. "Don't keep her waiting."

I searched around for her, but found her sitting by a corner like an abandoned girlfriend. I could tell how uncomfortable she was, probably she isn't the party type of person.

"Mind for a walk?" She looked up at me, she said nothing but smiled.

We walked past the crowd until we were out of the building.I followed her out into the balmy evening air, taking the opportunity to let my eyes roam where they wanted while she wasn’t looking.

The back of her was just as impressive as the front, with her sexy curvy body filling out from her gown in a way that kept my gaze on her ass.

Silently, we walked to the swimming pool side, thankfully, there was no one there. At least not yet.

"So, how did it go?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"Went well." She looked at me. "Thanks for helping. I'll try my best to send my applications to the schools she mentioned."

"Let's hope for good news then?"

"Hopefully."

We went back to another awkward silence, I haven't felt this speechless for any woman. I was the kind who would do anything to have a girl in bed, but with her standing beside me, I found myself helpless before her.

"I…" she paused, staring at her fingers. "I don't know how to explain it, but I feel very grateful for your concern and help. I mean, I never thought I'd find an easy opportunity." She sighed. "Thank you."

I wish she'd stop making things look like I was being a God or something, I was only trying my best to watch her smile. I wanted all it would take to make her feel comfortable around me.

She shook her head as I took a step toward her, close enough that I had to look down at her, and I loved that if I moved in any closer, my lips would naturally fit in the curve of her neck.

Damn, the things that did to my body weren’t appropriate for a public setting, so thank God no one was around.

There were so many things I was “curious” about. But before I got to those, there was one very important thing I needed to know: “Are you single?”

She chuckled, and I had a feeling I'd caught her slightly off guard. "I'm not married."

"That's not the same thing."

"That's true."

When she said nothing else, I asked. "So, are you?"

"Single? Not really. Otherwise I wouldn't be standing out here with you."

“Really?” I frowned. That seemed a little extreme. We hadn’t even done anything. “But we’re just hanging around."

Her eyes raised at me in a way that made me feel less of myself. "No, we're not."

The three words made my cock jerk to attention, as did the heat swirling in her gaze. If there’d been any doubt that she was feeling the same way I was, her words and that look just nixed that. She wanted me. And I most certainly wanted her.

Now I just needed to regroup and work out how the hell to get her. “We’re not?”

“You’re playing coy now?” She stroked her fingers in her hair. “And here I thought you didn’t know how to be subtle.”

"Okay, so if this isn’t just hanging around, does that mean it’s a date?”

“Let’s just say I’m not usually this…excited about hanging out with a friend.”

Oh, now that sounded promising. Especially since I was all kinds of excited myself.

"And just how excited are you?” I lowered my voice as if someone was standing, listening to us.

"Excited enough that I won't have to come over here again." She chuckled.

I rolled my eyes, feeling a bit ashamed at her response. "God, I haven't done this before."

"Done what?" I was so eager to know.

"Being so engrossed by a stranger I just met."

"So, does that mean I brought you out of your comfort zone?"

She hesitated, looking away. "Okay, you're really good for my ego."

"I could be better than that if you let me."

Our eyes locked and the air around us all but crackled with the tension thrumming between us.

"And what exactly does that mean?” she asked.

I flashed her my most devious grin and said, “Whatever you want it to.”
