Storming into the coffee shop with Lucas and Tom, I ambled straight toward Veronica’s table. Pulling out of a seat, I made myself comfortable even before she could understand what was really going on.

Her brows smashed together with an ugly frown. “There are a lot of empty tables in here Mr. Ellmord, why invade mine?”

“Can’t you just pretend as if you’re happy to see me?” I asked her with a smile. Waving the waitress over, I ordered a cup of coffee. “I know you’ve been waiting to hear from me.” Leaning forward, I grinned. “I paid Patricia Hymes’s family a visit,” her eyes widened. “They are still heartbroken over their missing daughter.”
