Eulalia seemed to see a long-buried memory from the past.

“Eulalia, have a child with me, or I’ll tie you to the bed...”

I’m carrying your baby now. Why don’t you want it anymore?

Eulalia half-closed her eyes, her pupils slightly dilated, her lashes partly covering them, casting shadows that made her eyes seem hazy.

Her nail-less hands pathetically curled up, occasionally twitching. She could hardly breathe, lying there like a fish washed ashore, on the verge of death.

Suddenly, something fell between her legs. In that moment, she felt her child leave her body. She didn’t know where she found the strength to hold on till the end, but she managed to murmur with dry lips, “Is it a boy or a girl?”

The doctor replied a bit stiffly, “A boy.”

“Can I see him?” Just moments ago, Eulalia was wailing in agony, but now her expression changed completely, calm with a hint of sparkle in her eyes.

The nearest nurse, seeing this, thought it was a fleeting rally before death.
