Miscarriage

Eulalia could barely speak, her eyes half-closed. After catching her breath, she started to cough softly. Each cough sent a sharp pain through her abdomen, making her realize what it meant to be "in agony, as if cut by a knife."

Blood choked in her throat before spurting out. The crimson liquid mixed with her tears, rolling down her jaw and staining her collar.

Percival's eyes stung at the sight of the blood on Eulalia's face. He floored the gas pedal, driving recklessly forward. A terrible premonition rose in his heart, making him shudder at the mere thought. He felt like he'd lost something irreplaceable.

Halfway to their destination, Percival saw an ambulance approaching. He immediately pulled over. The ambulance stopped, and several paramedics rushed out with a stretcher, transferring Eulalia for emergency treatment.

Inside the villa, chaos reigned. Blood stains marred the staircase. Evadne sat on the living room sofa, a cold smirk curling her lips.
