It’s true

“Tag you’re in!.”

“Don’t run, you’re gonna fall!”

“Come get me, brother!” She stuck out her tongue at him.

“I won’t let you off if I get you.”

“Nah!”

They ran around the beach house, playing in the water until he got her and spun her around. Her giggles filled the air, her smiles. And her laughter.

His little sister.

Eve.

He didn’t get to say a proper goodbye.

***

“Cut…”

“He’s losing a lot of blood” the nurse panicked, and the machine began beeping, counting down to zero. The blood won’t stop flowing, Dr. Moscow tried to patch the wound, but he couldn’t, there was another internal bleeding from his chest.

“Prepare to charge!”

“Joules…”

“Charge!”

“Joules!”

“He’s gone, doctor.”

“Time of death. Simon, aged twenty-six.

9:15 Am…”

They finished the surgery, covering the place that was cut open and covering him with a white cloth. Dr. Moscow pulled his surgery cloth off and walked out of the room. He tried his best to save him, but he couldn’t.

For some reason, he felt bad, that he had failed and not been able to save him.

“Doctor…” her lips paused when she saw his face. The tired eyes and the sad looks. She didn’t fail to notice all that.

“What happened?”

“I’m sorry.” His head fell.

“No, don’t be sorry. Just tell me he’s in a coma. He’s recuperating. He’s going to be well.” She cried. That was her wishful thinking.

“I’m sorry, I wish I could tell you all that.”

“Then what?”

“I did my best, but it wasn’t enough to save him.” He felt dejected, those words came out of his mouth. He was the first patient he couldn’t save.

“No! Don’t.”

“I’m sorry.”

She fell to her knees. Crying her eyes out. Her hopes were all gone, everything was scattered.

Dr. Moscow gently takes her hands off his shirt. He didn’t say anything when he saw her dressed that way, perhaps he saw them.

That’s why he didn’t make a fuss that she was putting on a nurse dress.

“A tracker was found on him.”

That’s how they’d followed him here because of it. They wanted him to lead them here. And when he did, they killed him.

He’d been a bait all along.

She wiped her tears, taking a seat in the chair that was present.

“I apologize for your loss.” Dr. Moscow helped her seat well.

And left.

She was alone, comforting herself. She had to put herself together and find out how she was going to leave the hospital. Dino might’ve seen her hair and shirt, but she wasn’t sure if he had seen her face.

If she leaves now, she would get caught.

“…here you’re?”

She lifts her puffy eyes.

He squats beside her and her eyes came down at him. He knew something had gone wrong with the look on her face, that she was mourning the death of her brother.

She blinked the tears away.

Her grip tightened on her dress. Thinking of everything was making her so upset, and knowing she couldn’t do anything.

“You need to get out of here.” He was staring at her face.

Sniffed, she looked away for a while and brought back her gaze to his face.

“Still ain’t accepting my proposal?”

“You ain’t getting over that, are you?”

“It’s my last offer.”

“Is this some kind of joke?”

“I’m fucking serious. Anyway, your life depends on it.“

“Why are you so concerned about me…”

Her gaze went off his face again, staring at the white walls.

He wasn’t going to give his opinion on that, she shouldn’t be aware of his intentions toward her.

“For how long?”

“Three months. And you’ll get paid too for everything. In three months.”

“How much would I get paid?”

“How much do you want, open Check.”

She chuckled, a sad one, and the smile left her face just the minute it came. He did well in making her laugh In a situation like this.

Someone like him would pay her. Did he pity her that much? He would pay her any amount she needs.

What a joker!

“What, why does that look? You don’t believe me, I’m…” he pressed his lips together to say something. But then resisted it.

“You’re a scam.” She said the word, that what she thought of him, there was a lot of him, here in the tenderloin.

“Fuck! Why would you think of me like that, I’m Wesley, Enzo.”

“And who the Fuck is that?” She raised her brows at him, where they playing a game of who’s now?

“A billionaire in San Francisco. Wesley Enzo!” He drawled. He felt hurt that his ego was being bruised by some local girl.

Her eyes went up and down his body again. He was who? She scoffed.

She shook her head. Only a fool would believe he was a billionaire. There was no billionaire here in the tenderloin. You won’t even see any of them coming down here.

“You don’t believe me? Do you know how I am?” It was her turn to play the game with him.

He hissed.

How would he convince her that he was what he told her about?

“I’m Elizabeth's godmother.”

“Ho-ho.” He mocked.

“Don’t joke with me, I’m not into any silly games…”

She kicked him again and he fell.

Jacky, who stood close, couldn’t believe what he was seeing, this was his cold boss. Being treated this way by a girl, he could easily snap her neck with any ill feeling.

This was his boss? If she knows who he was, she won’t dare stare at him in the face.

He must have a plan, a deadly plan for her, and she was falling for his plan.

He stood back on, returning to the squatting position he once was. Likewise, he had to sustain this treatment. Because he’d to use her to get what he wants.

“It’s true.”

They turned to know who speaking to them.

“…he’s Wesley. Everything he’s told you is true. He’s a billionaire in San Francisco.”

“Dr. Moscow…?”
