The Proposal

Eve stood when the doctor's voice came up again. And the curtains were drawn out, and Simon was rolled out of the room, into the theater.

Her throat was parched, and her hand grip tightly on her chest. She went teary again, and the tears were gonna fall any minute.

“I’m here, brother.” She sniffed.

“You ain’t useless, I never once considered you to be that. You’re the best brother I’ve ever had. You came for me just as you promised. I was the one who failed not to recognize you…”

She held his hand, running after the stretcher until it was rolled up into the room and the doors were shut against her. Even if this was going to be the last moment, he did hear what she said to him because she saw the tears that fell out of the corner of his eyes. And his lips moved.

“I’m sorry.”

Eve Montana, the daughter of late Montana, and the owner of Montana’s collections which were rich in artwork, sheer dazzling mystique, and gold and jewels. That had gone down in lineage.

She would have been a wealthy heiress.

And on the night before Christmas, everything they owned was snatched from them. On her seventeen birthday, she lost everything.

And her father was framed for theft.

She won’t let anyone know she was a Montana. The secrets of her past lie with her.

Because they believed the Montana's died that night, all of them.

Then it has been her parents and now her brother.

Her eyes lingered around the place she waited. After waiting for a long time. She went out to get some water when her throat was all dried up. Upon her return, she caught a glimpse of Dino coming her way, and she turned.

Wishing she didn’t leave the place she was. She faced the wall, letting down her hair.

But her dress would give her away woefully, she should’ve changed them. Her heart was beating so fast again as if it were going to jump out of her as he keeps getting closer to her.

He passed her without knowing, but then stopped midway and whirled his head around. When he found it suspicious.

She ran into any of the patients' rooms she could just to hide.

She was certain he saw her run because she saw his feet right next to the room she had entered.

Damn!

“Sorry, ma, you can’t be here. Please leave.”

She shook her head. Wishing the nurse could understand she can’t leave presently, there was someone outside the room waiting for her.

“Leave!” She pleaded with her hands clasped together.

“Just a moment.”

“There’s a patient in here, you can’t stay here.” Nothing she would say to the nurse would make her change her mind, she was adamant, not willing to hear what she has to say.

She opened the door and glance sideways if anyone was in sight.

She stepped out of the room, and hurried through the hallway, walking as briskly as she could. She wanted to avoid putting herself at risk. Or make herself look more suspicious. She had to change her cloth that was stained with blood.

And now he was coming in front of her again. Glancing here and there. She remained rooted where she was, the only option was to run back.

And it was now.

Damn!

She ran past everyone, running for the next place to hide, she tried not to encounter any of them while she ran. Another man was ahead of her, holding the railing and on the lookout.

She froze.

Trapped.

Her anxiety was getting at her, her body was shuddering in fright.

When she least expected it, a hand pulled her into a room and shut the door with her back slammed against it.

“Got you…” He whispered.

“Who are you?” The gray eyes, she remembered seeing them earlier. He stood close to her. He wasn’t anyone she knew. His hand was above her head and his eyes were down on hers. She stares at the sexy stranger with a perfectly chiseled jaw, sculpted toned muscles, and nice smells.

For a moment, she let herself admire the man in front of her.

She gulped down the invisible lump in her throat, and her hands held her shirt tightly when he scooted closer to her. He looked through the keyhole if the men were still outside the door.

“Who are you?” She breathed out. She felt uncomfortable feelings with his body touching hers.

With a slight push of her, keeping the distance between them.

“And why are you helping me?” She looked him in the eye and held his cold-eyed stare. He was scarier than Dino. She couldn’t stare at him for long, her gaze left his face.

“Why do you look so pitiable?” The voice that could melt her deep down, and make her take off her panties in a swoop.

He’d been watching her.

Her eyes were filled with mixed emotions, when she focused on his face again, he was stretching a cloth at her. Which she discovered was a nurse uniform. She should be grateful.

His eyes fell on her small tits and looked away. He couldn’t explain his actions, why he was feeling attracted to the stranger, and when she pouted at him. He found her alluring. Not only that, but he could get any girl he wants, but not someone like her.

“Here,”

She took the cloth from his hold. He knew what she wanted. She turned, with her back against him, and took off her stained shirt.

He saw the tattoo on her neck, and he guessed it was connected to her thighs. She appeared tough, maybe he shouldn’t have interfered. He never wanted to have anything to do with her or the men after her.

But he knew those people were stronger than she.

She caught his gaze and he looked away.

“Thank you.” If it came out appropriate. His aura was different from the people of tenderloin. But he was just a common man.

“Bastard!” She growled quietly. Hoping he won’t hear what she said, Why was he making her feel this way?

“You won’t say that if you know who I was.”

Her face was covered in shock. And a hand over her mouth. She’d been so stupid.

He heard her!

“What do you want from me?”

“You’re smart.” He smirked and took two large steps towards her, closing the distance between them, with his hand trapping her again.

“I’ll offer you a proposal.”

She folds her hands beneath her breast, pushing the small tits up a little. And held his gaze.

He continued. “You can’t reject, you can’t say no.”

Her stomach churns at the sound of his voice behind her ears.

She waited for the worse.

“… If you don’t accept my proposal, those men out there would get you. And you know what worse could happen to you if they have you. They did that to your brother, so you could imagine. If you come with me, I’ll help you get out of here.”

“What’s the proposal?” Her mouth opened slightly, his stare at her parted lips, which were naturally reddish. Sheering the thoughts of how kissable it looked.

“Marry me and I’ll protect you”

She couldn’t marry him, whether he was joking or not, her life was a mess. How was he going to be part of that messy life? What would do?

He was a poor man, his life would only get entangled with danger if he becomes involved with her.

She pitied him now, he got into his because of her.

“You can protect me?” He knitted his brows at her. “….what do you even have.” She huffed and studied him up and down his body. And she kicked his groin, so he backed down against her, groaning in pain.

“I almost fell for your tricks.” She tossed her stained dress on his face.

“Help me get rid of that.”

She hurried out of the room before he could say another word.

He stood, dumbstruck. Never in his life had something like this happened to him before.

Never!

He groaned, with his knees still pressed together, the kick was hard.

Damn!

So much for a nice proposal!
