80. Don't blame yourself

[Layla’s POV]

Six months later.

I stirred in my sleep, with a smile on my face, refusing to wake up from the beautiful dream I was having. Xavier and I were by the poolside, and he was stroking my hair while we laughed and discussed about what had happened in the council meeting that day.

“Mum, there’s a butterfly... a butterfly,” my little pup who looked exactly like Xavier cried as he ran, chasing a butterfly.

“Mum?” I mumbled, dryly. “Mum,” I said, this time in an affirmative tone.

My eyelashes fluttered and I opened my eyes instantly, and sat up immediately looking up at the white ceiling.

Didn’t they say having dreams about kids meant that you will be having a child soon enough? Once again, my hope had been restored.

I climbed out of bed, filled with so much happiness and glee. “Michaela,” I called.

I raced to where the calendar hung just by the side of the mirror next to the dressing table, and went to check the marked dates which in turn made me smile even more broadly.

Im disappointed that the 18+ rating appears to be about the abuse instead of the smut. But man I invested so much already I have to keep reading. I’m rooting for an HEA
