Chapter 22 – It Was Too Late

(Eve’s POV)

It was past eleven in the evening, but my best friends were still awake. Marga had just finished the video call with her husband, and Bethany was having coffee on the patio adjoining the bedroom while finishing her report for tomorrow.

I wished I could change today; my heart and mind were at war about it because when I got home, my children and Marga had so many exciting stories about their day. Although only Isabella and the twins liked their new school, the fun the boys had in helping Wyatt decorate his front yard for Halloween’s trick-or-treat was something unforgettable for them.

Theo was happy, his eyes sparkling, as he shared his day and told me Wyatt let him paint the front door of his house. Marga said it would probably scare kids who didn’t like cute puppies and kittens. When she showed me the picture, she was right. My youngest son drew them well, and Wyatt might need to buy more candies this year as the painting might attract more kids instead of scaring them.
