Chapter Twenty-Seven

"What happened Nick?" I overheard Roshni talking on the phone with him. She just couldn't stay away from him. I didn't want to keep eavesdropping on their conversation, so I was about to leave the room when I heard her say,

"I'm so sorry for your loss, Nick. He was such a good man."

I wondered who passed away, as I went closer to Roshni.

"Of course, I will be there right away." she said.

Immediately she ended the call, tears welled up in her eyes and she began to cry.

It seemed she had been holding back her emotions for too long and the news she had just received was the final straw. She felt overwhelmed.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Nick lost his dad today." she said in a broken voice

"Sorry for his loss." I said. As much as I hated him, I would never wish for him to lose a parent. It's very sad

"I was so close to his dad when I was a kid." she cried "- he was really a good and kindhearted man."

"Hush now." I soothed, wiping the tears away from her cheeks "- I will go with you
