I’VE MISSED YOU DAVID

David was heading toward the hospital’s parking space for his car when his phone began to ring. He stopped by the end of the hallway and stared at the phone screen. David wasn’t used to responding to private numbers so when the call came, he had someone in mind.

He quickly pulled out his official phone and placed a call.

“Officer Darcey!”

“How are you doing Mr. Wells?” the officer demanded.

“I just got a call from a private line and if I’m not mistaken, it's the call we've been waiting for.” David supplied.

“You know what to do. Just try as much as you can to stay on the line and don't forget to add me on the line too.”

“Got it,” David replied. “The private number is calling again.” he quickly hung up and responded to his other phone. The moment David responded to the call, he added Officer Darcey and slipped to a corner.

“Hello!”

Silence reigned which David found deafening. The call was still on but no one was speaking.

“Who is on the line?” David asked and cleared his throat loudly.
