Chapter 38

Victoria POV:

It had been a month since mom and Tom’s wedding. She had finally come home from a month long honeymoon in Hawaii, happy as a clam and sporting a gorgeous tan that I was very jealous of. Seeing how giddy she was affirmed my approval of Tom. I had not seen this version of my mom in a long time.

We had talked a couple of times on facetime while she was away. Our conversations always seemed to be short because she always seemed to be rushing off from one activity to the next. I missed her but I loved that she was having the time of her life. One time during a video call, Tom came into the room with a flower for my mom and kissed her cheek which made her giggle.

My mom. Giggled. I acted like I was absolutely disgusted by the display of affection when the truth is I was jealous of what they had. My mother was deeply and hopelessly in love while my relationship on the other hand was in the literal pits of hell. Over the past month, I started feeling more and more that Gabe an
