CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE - HUNTERS

In the morning, when I opened my eyes after a few hours of sleep, I wanted to sleep more. I brought my hand to the space beside me and remembered where I was and why. And when thoughts circled my head again, sleep soon disappeared.

I went to brush my teeth, did the things I needed to and left the room. Low music was coming from the living room as I walked down the hall. And when I came down, Liane was there in the kitchen making something. I sniffed the air, trying to find out what it was, but all I knew was that it was something sweet.

"Good morning..." I said when I appeared at the kitchen door and saw Liane on the edge of the stove frying... donuts?!

"Good morning!" He looked at me with those blue eyes that reminded me a lot of Amelia's, but darker. Her black hair framed her face perfectly and her thick eyebrows had a perfect arch. "Did you sleep well?

"Enough." I moved closer. "What about the baby? Is it quiet?"

"He looked like an angel." He laughed and put another donut on
