Chapter thirty-three

After today's events, I understand how Shawn must be feeling about becoming a parent. We lost our twins mid pregnancy and a car accident a few days ago nearly killed me and cost Beth her baby. She's afraid she won't be able to have our own children and that I'm going to leave her. I also have a feeling that Beth asking Melanie to help calm the baby down is what upset her. Beth always goes to Shawn when the baby is wild and won't calm down.

She's been quiet since we sat at our table in the diner. She didn't even order a meal for herself. I take her hand and stand from our table. "Will you guide me to the bathroom, please," I ask softly and feel as she stands a moment later.

Moments later we enter the bathroom and I step in front of her, feeling her facial expression. Her cheeks and eyes were wet from recent tears and I go in her arms. "I know what else is bothering you," I say in a soothing whisper and rub her back in comfort. "Beth asked for Melanie to help calm the baby down
