Chapter Ninety Nine

Lilith's POV

I'm six years old again, and I'm sitting at the dining room table next to Khai as I eat the first hot meal I've had in weeks.

Everything is overwhelming.

The smells, sound, light and even the brightly covered walls that threaten to swallow me whole.

I hate sitting in this room, around this huge table where I am made to eat food I cannot stomach because my tummy's too hungry to actually eat.

On the plate in front of me sits my favourite cheesy spaghetti with the little squares of bacon that make the dish all the better.

I'm distractedly swirling the fork in the spaghetti, making the healthiest loaded fork, when Damian asks me if I'm enjoying the food.

I don't know what to do if I should answer him, so I do what I always do. I look to Khai for an answer.

Damian doesn't know, but I can mind-link Khai.
