Chapter 41: Lisa

As I recovered, everyone was seated next to me. Their expressions suggested that they had not slept well. How long had they been waiting for me to wake up?

I reached out my arm towards Mom, and she quickly grabbed hold of my palm.

"Rest, sweetie. You need it. I am so glad you are okay."

"But what happened?"

“For the time being, we had to restrain your abilities with a bloodstone." Ash spoke."Hunters frequently employ bloodstones to weaken monsters. Not that you fit the mold."

"I get it. Don’t worry." I assured her.

"I didn’t know if it would work. But we had to do something." Ash tried to reason.

"It’s okay. I am fine. Thank you."

"Rest for a day or two, and when you are better, we go." Mom announced.

"Go where?"

"Back home," she said.

"But what about Tobias and his army?"

"If he brings the war to us, we won’t step back. We may have a fighting chance now. And if he doesn't, then we leave the city and live to go where your dad and I started a life together."
