“I was very worried about you, Rosetta,” says Lucas. Now stand beside the bed where Rosetta sat on.
Half an hour ago, the Marquess Grasswall castle was in a frenzy. Because after three days of sleep and a high fever, Rosetta did wake up. The doctor who called for just sighed relief, saying that Rosetta was as healthy as ever.
Then, ten minutes earlier, Lucas came. Visiting Marquess’s home with hard breath to visit his fiance. So now they’re both in the room.
“You needn’t bother coming,” Rosetta retorted. She wanted to turn the clock back to sleep, but when she saw someone who loved her, she pulled the plug.
Lucas sat on the edge of the bed. He looks in a dark-haired girl who now looked whiter than paper. Not a time or two Rosetta has ever woken up from the dead like this.
“You had another nightmare?”
As a childhood friend who spent a lot of time together, Lucas also learned that Rosetta had an unknown disease. But when she was about to call the doctor, the doctor just said that she was fine.
Rosetta nodded. Remembering the worst nightmare she had. The truth is Rosetta’s not surprised by this incident. During the twenty years of her life, there are more than thirty conditions in which Rosetta sleeps more than two days and high fever, and what wakes up is a nightmare.
“What dream?” asked Lucas. His hands gently rubbed Rosetta’s head.
Being treated like this makes Rosetta's eyes watery. She bites her lips, looks at her lover with tears in her eyes, and stretches out her arms. Demanding a cuddle with her devotee.
Lucas granted it. So they both lay in bed. The head of Rosetta was on that golden boy’s arm. Lucas’s long fingers play the red hair to make Rosetta a little calmer.
“You’re coming to the debutante party.”
Rosetta says. Rubbing her nose against Lucas’s chest. The aroma of citrus and wood wafting from the Duke’s formal suit. Also, the beating sound of h heart is so gentle to hear. Being in Lucas’s arms has always been a fun moment for Rosetta.
Lucas pulled up the left arm that had been a Rosetta pillow and then used his elbow to rest while he lay on his side. He inched a little to get a good look at his lover’s face, but Rosetta's hand around her waist kept Lucas away.
“How did you know that I was there?“ asked Lucas, sounding surprised. But Rosetta was far more surprised.
“You want to go there?“ Rosetta answered with a strangled voice and the eyes roared in disbelief.
Lucas raised his eyebrow, nodding once. His hand rubs Rosetta’s hair again, saying, “My father has commissioned me to come to the debutante. So I have to do it anyway.”
“Don’t come,” said Rosetta as she shook Lucas’s hand. She bit her lip again until it felt numb, placing a pleading gaze.
“Why? You would not come there because your little sisters would debut?“ Lucas replied.
For a few years, he still can’t understand why Rosetta being strange after waking up from her long sleep.
For example a year ago, when Rosetta was about to celebrate the twentieth birthday. The brown-eyed girl had a fever for five days. When her eyes opened, the first thing she said was “I’ll take over the duties of the castle and postpone the wedding.”
Rosetta's mouth opened, but no sound came out. So she took a deep breath and looked directly into Lucas’s eyes.
“Cause ....”
The words hang in the air. How did Rosetta say if Lucas came, he’d meet the last princess and kiss her on the dance floor?
“Ca–Cause there must be some pretty young girls coming, right? I fear you are smitten by one of them,“ replied Rosetta later. Not lie too much on what she’s saying.
Lucas winked, and he laughed softly. His hands twisted her red hair and made it messy.
“It’s impossible. Now all I love is Rosetta Halstead, Marquess Grasswall's daughter, and my precious fiance,“ said Lucas.
Yet, Rosetta was dissatisfied with that answer, grumbling, and brooding. Lucas sighed briefly.
“Looks like you’re still tired, Rosetta.“ Lucas got out of bed, fixing the covers to cover half his lover’s body.
“I’ll be back tomorrow. Rest up, My Flower,” Lucas said, bowing down to give a warm kiss on Rosetta’s forehead.
“Lucas! Hang on!“ Rosetta shouted, but Lucas was already closing the bedroom door. As a result, Rosetta lies down again.
The girl looked at the mosquito net. Knocked out the haunting dream. This time too, Rosetta must try to prevent this scenario from happening in real life. Rosetta banged her head with a fist.
“Fucking dream,” she mumbled, “How long are you going to keep pestering me like this?”
From the time of birth, Marquess Grasswall's eldest daughter was able to saw a future dream which said being a blessing or a curse. Parts of the dream’s Rosetta’s event will occur within a week to a year.
One thing that makes the dream different from another is a long-dormant sleep and a high fever.
At first, Rosetta dreamt only pleasant insignificance. Like what she would get when she was four, what kind of dress she wore for the first time, and so on.
But at the age of seventeen, the dreams of foreboding began to turn monstrous.
A dream of how Lucas kissed the princess then seized Rosetta’s vision. That girl’s eyes welled up, shedding the big teardrops that had been held back so long.
Lucas Carleton, the twenty-four-year-old boy who Rosetta loved, was about to kiss another girl at the debutante party.
Lucas Carleton, who has a bright smile like the sun in the sky Duchy Riverdale, softly whispered the name of another girl who is no more beautiful than Rosetta.
Everything about Lucas must be possessed, Rosetta. That’s absolute. There is no doubt in her mind that the entire upper class knows this fact.
Rosetta's breathing became hard. The probability of that event was seventy-five percent. If Rosetta goes silent, she’ll end up becoming the sad girl of that dream.
That’s not good news. On the contrary, very bad. Of course, Rosetta can’t just let that go.
“I don’t know that princess, but I was able to persuade Lucas not to come to debutante even if it cost me my life!“ H decisive Rosetta in the heart. Her hands crumpled the surface of the blanket.
Rosetta nibbles nails, quick thinking. An idea crossed his head.
“Flora!” called Rosetta.
There are still two weeks left before the debutante party is held at the palace in the Capital. During the time that Rosetta will do anything to prevent Lucas from attending the party.
A single-inch step in a pair of heels made a sharp sound as Rosetta made her way down the stone staircase on the castle’s front porch. It was now eleven in the morning and she neglected the duties that were piling up in the workroom.“Good morning, Lady Rosetta!”The sound of a joyful call came from a young man standing next to the chariot, opening the door. The young man was wearing a black uniform with a white vest over his broad breasts and broad shoulders. A dark brown coat dangled from the side of his left shoulder.“Good morning, Alden,” greet Rosetta with a smile to her guardian knights at the ready. She paused and stood in front of the knight.“Your energy never runs out,” adds Rosetta. Her eye beads noticed a dark blue hair sticking out against gravity on his head. Insensible, Rosetta wiped Alden’s hair. Fixing every strand for a little bit.“La–Lady, what are you doing?” shrieked Alden freaking. The bl
“The young master is in his room. This way please.“The man in his mid-thirty guided Rosetta, Flora, and Alden in. Her rest of the unit is waiting outside.“Thanks, Rowson,” replied Rosetta, raising a nice smile. They passed through the long halls of the front castle building. Turning and heading east where Lucas’s workroom is.Rosetta threw a stare in the backyard of a building visible from the window. From here she can see a flower garden and a moment where remembered as her kiss and dance with Lucas. The feeling of shame but joy is pumping inside the inside of Rosetta’s chest. Unconsciously smiling stupidly alone. Good thing nobody’s watching. The door to Lucas’s workroom was made of mahogany, towering before Rosetta. Rowson knocks three times before entering. After saying a few words, Rowson let Rosetta in. This time without Flora and Alden.“Good morning, My Lord,” said Rosetta curtsey.Lu
Two weeks later, Rosetta and Lucas were in the Capital of Aelton, named Evening, with half of Duke Riverdale territory but the most densely populated region in the entire kingdom.Got two days left before the party, Rosetta uses it to meet fellow Ladies. Gossiping about things, even exchanging information.Though the girls smiled and laughed at each other, they secretly competed strictly to show who would be the center of the party.Tonight, the debutante party is being held in the palace hall. Dozens of nobles from all over the Kingdom were present, simultaneously ending the social season and welcoming the fall.Rosetta spent two hours in the bathroom. The water has a floral scent and red rose petals sprinkled with a great fragrance.“Lady, tonight I risk my life to make you the most beautiful girl in the whole kingdom!” Flora says, eager to comb the red hair of Rosetta that reaching her waist.“I prefer to be
“Lord Lucas Jean Carleton and Lady Rosetta Jane Halstead have arrived!”The sound of the bodyguards announcing the arrival echoed throughout the Aelton palace hall. The nobles sprawled out on the floor quickly looked at the door.Rosetta elegantly walks next to Lucas as she descends three steps below the entrance. Her brown eyes flashed, noticing the shocked expressions of those in attendance who saw her and her lover's appearance.“Wow, they’re amazing.”“As if destined as lovers.”“Look how romantic Lord Lucas has taken Lady Rosetta in his hand.”The whispers of praise rang out every Rosetta and Lucas through the royal crowd. Rosetta’s confident smile grows. Without glancing to her side, she made her way to the end of the hall where the King and Queen were located.“Salute to the sun and moon of Aelton,” greet Rosetta and Lucas simultaneously.Lucas bowed forty-five degrees, Rosetta fle
Princess Sonya is heading down the stairs very carefully. The faint knock from the shoe she was wearing was heard, but far less than the rotten whispers heaving up to the ceiling of the hall. It’s Rosetta who wants a big laugh right now. However, she is holding it because her position is not too far from royal majesty, which would certainly reflect her image.Just look. Now Princess Sonya walks to the throne. All the nobles laughed as her footsteps seemed unsure of themselves. The girl’s shoulders were half bowed and her gaze looked down at the red carpet beneath her feet.“Look at her.”“Doesn’t anyone tell you how to wear a dress properly?”“Who would design clothes like that.”“That girl looks ridiculous.”Other promptings reached Rosetta’s ear, giving rise to the disparate smile on the girl’s lips. It is not wrong for the nobility to gossip so openly because Princess Sonya’s appearance this eveni
“All the young girl here took a long hard work to look prettier at this party. But seeing that girl looking all poorly makes me even more upset!” As always Lady Charlotte adds, slowly wags the fan.Rosetta sweetly smiled, said with concern. “Well. We don’t have to get involved with her.”The ladies nodded approvingly, looked at one another, and then leaped at Lucas as putting up a formal smile.“But of course Lady Rosetta is the only one star of this party! Your beauty is amazing. Isn’t that right, Lord Lucas?“ asked Lady Elizabeth playfully.“Of course.“ Lucas answered.“If you’ll excuse us, then. I haven’t even seen my siblings,“ said Rosetta politely and nodded in respect.“Be careful, My Lady.” The Ladies nodded. That dark-haired girl had tucked her fiance in a very affectionate embrace. It’s as if showing off how wells have to do with the future Duke is important in the Aelton Kingdom. Everyone
“I’m sorry!“ screamed Princess Sonya in panic. Her hands rubbed against the back of Lucas’s coat but instead triggered a shock on peoples because of her impoliteness.Still, in a daze and a hurry, Princess Sonya pulled a handkerchief from her pocket and then struggled to clean the remains of the wine. Still, the reddish hue wouldn’t let go.“Stop!“ said Rosetta. She is getting very angry now. Rosetta had been trying to control her emotions when she saw that girl who she tried to avoid, then actually coming herself in a very embarrassing way.“But!”Princess Sonya looked up, staring at Rosetta who was holding her hand. The grip tightened until the princess frowned upon the pain. Rosetta glared at her.“Get your hands off my fiancee!“ Rosetta hisses sharply, only heard for Princess Sonya.Just like a fool girl that obeys promptly, Princess Sonya pulled her hand out. While Rosetta changed her hand on the fiance’s a
However, something boisterous within that princess. A kind of ingratitude has been grossly underrated in front of the other nobility. Even now, it grows stronger as Rosetta flattens it.“But, even if Lord Carleton is your fiancee, you guys aren’t married either. Isn’t your behavior a little bit too much, lady Rosetta?“ asked Princess Sonya as she looked up.A black bead in the shape of a lazy eye looks brave. Rosetta glared, half-surprised that Princess Sonya was staring straight at her. Then Rosetta squinted her eyes.“So what?“ Rosetta asked, ”Isn’t it fair to protect a lover from another girl who’s trying to get attention to herself and pretending to be ridiculous?”Rosetta stepped forward while Princess Sonya shuffled back.“Well, well. Oh! I know ... you don’t want to take any responsibility, do you?”Immediately Princess Sonya’s face turned red. Her brow winked and it was obvious that Rosetta’s words hung
