Someone entered the unit, cut off the rubber tubing that connects the tank to the stove, and left the regulator open. Because the cylinder was fairly new, the amount of leakage was enough to blow up the place at the littlest bit of spark.
It was fortunate that her exposure to the harmful gas was short and she hadn't fully entered the unit when the explosion happened. And it was all thanks to Lucas who didn't think twice to pull her out even risking his own life.
Meanwhile, James Leith called her when he learned of the incident.
"I was worried when I heard about what happened to the CEO. I immediately thought that it's got something to do with you. I'm glad that you're okay," James said.
"Lucas saved me," she answered. Her heart was st
Danie's heart skipped a beat when finally, Lucas arrived. He didn't seem to have gone to his office. He was simply wearing jeans and a jacket over a white t-shirt with his hair all disheveled. He looked irritated and furious like something did not go according to his wishes. But what caught Dana's attention was the bandage around his right palm. Did he get the injury when he saved her?Daniel felt awful for causing him to get hurt."Is everything okay, Levi?" Lucas asked his brother while taking off his jacket. He didn't even throw Danie a glance as if she wasn't there."Uh-huh. Nothing to worry about," Levi answered. "How did it go?""He didn't want to speak," Lucas was frustrated. "But I'll make sure he would not see the light of day again," then his gaze darted in her direction. And she could swear, she saw how those angry eyes softened when he looked at her. "How are you feeling, Dana?"Lucas approached her and put his left hand against
"Where are we going?" Danielle asked Lucas who was busy instructing his security team about what to do."We need to leave this place as soon as possible," it was Levi who answered her."But why?""Because according to the security, they've spotted some armed men around the vicinity. They knew that you're here, Dana," Levi explained but he was just relaxed like he was not talking about armed people."Are you guys ready?" Lucas asked. "We need to leave Dana. I cannot risk the safety of the residents in case they got caught in a crossfire.""What do you mean? Is the situation that bad?" she was nervous all of a sudden. It's happening again. Her nightmare is happening again!"Not so. But we have to make sure. Don't worry, the police in civilian cars will escort us. We will leave as subtle as possible.""But where are we going?" do they have another place to run to?"Do you trust me, Dana?" Lucas asked seriously. "I promised
"We will stay here for the meantime. I hope it's okay with you," Lucas said as soon as they entered his huge house. It was absolutely a gorgeous place. But it still could not be compared to where Princess Danielle Williams once lived. However, if only it were possible, she would not want to go back anymore. But it seems like no matter what running and hiding she would do, her past would still come like a ghost to haunt her and force her to go back."Why would it be not okay with me, Lucas?" she smiled at him. "But perhaps, you can let the Doctor go. I am well and maybe his patients are waiting for him.""Are you trying to shoo me away, lady?" Levi butted in."Come on, Dr. Levi," she rolled her eyes at him. "You would be more useful in the hospital. Just go and save lives, you know.""That hurts. And here I thought you're happy that I'm here," Levi pretended to be offended. "Did you hear that, Lucas? As much as I wanted to help you, this lady
To say that Danielle was feeling guilty was an understatement.Just now, Lucas said that he'd be temporarily working from home. He delegated every important matter to Ace and Drew to act on his behalf while he cannot go physically to the office. And yet, he did not have to do that. Danielle caused Lucas' life to take this change. But what was moving Danie was the fact that Lucas was not blaming her. It was as if it was natural for him to protect her."Dr. Levi, do you have to stay here with us?" of course, Danie was not doing anything so she went to bug the Doctor who was playing on his phone."Didn't you hear what Lucas said? He needs me here. So back off, lady," Levi did not spare her a glance. She pouted and sat beside him while peeping at his game. "What are you playing? Teach me, would you?""It's for boys," Levi answered, moving away from her."Please?" she followed."Hey," Levi stopped playing and face
"What?" Danielle felt like she received another blow to her gut when she heard what Mrs. Leith said. "Uncle is in the hospital?" she repeated. She called James to tell him what happened and to plead that he take her already. But instead, she was met by bad news on his end."I'm sorry, Danielle. But don't worry. This has been happening a lot and he always comes out alright," Mrs. Leith encouraged her. "I just hope that this would be the last time. I am hopeful about his condition. I feel like he's near to recovery.""Can't I talk to him now?" Danielle really wanted to hear her Uncle's voice."You can talk to me instead," the older woman replied."I need to leave the Del Fierros, Mrs. Leith," her voice turned into soft sobs. "As soon as possible.""Did anything go wrong, Danielle?""Lucas already got hurt. He was shot, I don't know how he was doing right now," she cried. "I'm scared, I don't know what to do. I-""He got shot? How
Danielle was not able to get a full night's sleep. She could hardly get Lucas out of her thoughts. It was like she could not stop worrying unless she sees that he was okay with her own eyes."Good morning, Dana," Miriam went to her room to wake her up."Good morning, Auntie," she greeted back while yawning."Tabitha and Jio are coming over today," she said while pulling the curtains to let sunlight in. "I know you'd want to see them.""Really?" she asked excitedly. She was busy worrying about Lucas, she forgot about visiting Tabitha. It must be a good thing to see them today. After all, she was not sure if she could stay there longer."Yes, so get up and take a bath. Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes," Miriam helped her got up from bed.She gave her a pair of new crutches as well."Thank you, Auntie," though she wished that she wasn't going to need it sooner. If only her legs were fine, then Lucas did not have to
"Auntie, I'm fine. Why are you crying?" Danielle could not help but be emotional when Tabitha kept sobbing while hugging her.Esther and Jio were still bickering when they left her alone with Tabitha."Dana, since I lost my daughter, it's you who made me whole again. I can't take it if I will also lose you. I wanted to blame Lucas, but the poor boy risked his life to protect you. How could I scold him?" Tabitha laughed a little while pulling away from the hug."You're right, Auntie, Lucas saved me. So don't be mad at him, hmn?""He ought to. He brought you to the city even when this old woman begged him to forget about taking revenge on you.""You did that?" she was surprised."When you last went home, I talked to him because I was so worried about you."The last time? She remembered now, maybe that was why Lucas was so mad at her when they were going back to the city. He even accused her of pulling a drama. That mor
Danielle looked at her injuries in the mirror. Her right arm suffered a long and deep stab wound. And her left shoulder got a shallow wound. The nurse was not able to attack the third time because Levi and the rest were able to stop him.It was also a good thing that the ambulance hadn't left yet. And of course, because there's Dr. Levi, who was quick on his feet to treat her."How are you feeling?" Miriam asked her. Tabitha and Jio left already when they were sure that she was okay.Jane's mother almost had a heart attack when she saw her with blood all over her. Fortunately, she was attended to well."I'm okay, Auntie. Did the nurse say anything?" she had to ask to make sure that it was only her who heard when he called her Danielle Williams."He didn't speak a word," Miriam shook her head.Danie was relieved to hear that. In any case, no one should know who she really was. When she leaves, she wanted them to forget all about her.
