Chapter 46

Liz POV

Deimos’s arms tense around me. His grip on my body is almost painful as he stares down his father. Stepping to the side, Deimos tries to bypass his father without answering him, but Nico steps in his way.

“I am going to ask you one more time,” Nico says in a hushed voice. “Where do you think you are going?”

Deimos grunts as he gently sets me down on my feet. He steadies me for a moment before turning to his father. Deimos flexes his hands at his sides before balling his hands into fists. He growls in Nico’s direction.

I glance over my shoulder and see that everyone is discreetly watching what is unfolding at the ballroom door.

“Deimos,” I whisper, but he doesn’t pay any attention to me.

“I am taking Elizabeth to the infirmary,” Deimos says through gritted teeth.

Nico’s eyes rake over my body, and his eyes narrow in on the bruise on my arm. “She fell down the stairs, and I caught her. She is quite clumsy for a human.”
