Chapter Thirty Two

Ethan was silent for a long time as he stared at her hoping he'd not heard her correctly. She really didn't want to be with him?

"Do you mean... No you can't be my girlfriend or No you can't marry me?" He inquired.

"Both." She answered somberly.

"Oh." He said. "Okay."

"I'm sorry." She apologized.

Ethan took a deep breath, held it for some seconds then let it out. He couldn't let her see how hurt he was. He guessed he should have listened to Anne when she told him that Saira was only playing with him.

"Karma is such a bitch." He chuckled dryly. "The player just got played."

"I like you very much Ethan..." She started to say.

"Don't lie to yourself Saira." He cut her off harshly. "I'm sorry I came between you and Daniel. I won't... bother you anymore."

"Ethan..."

"It'll be like before. You'll be a stranger to me and I'll be the same to you." He told her. "I can't stay where I'm not needed."

"I...", She sighed.

"I want to be alone." He said and turned his face away from her.
