Chapter Thirty

Eileen looked everywhere else but at Ethan. She was scared to tell him about Daniel's involvement in his accident for fear of him suffering another cardiac arrest so she told him a little white lie.

"Eugene?Oh! There was a situation that needed his attention so he had to travel." She said. "It'd take him about... two months or so." She shrugged.

"Okay." Ethan said.

"Why do you ask? You don't like him remember?" She teased.

"I still don't, but he's like your shadow so I was wondering why he isn't here." Ethan replied. "How long have I been asleep?"

"Two weeks and two days." She answered. "You don't know how happy I am that you are awake baby. I was going out of my mind with worry."

"When can I see Saira Mom?" Ethan asked.

"Ethan..." She sighed.

"You promised." He reminded her through gritted teeth. "You can't take it back."

"She's... someone's girlfriend Ethan." Eileen said. "What's so special about her?"

"Everything Mom. If I can't be with her then I don't think I want to live anymore
