Chapter 31- The restored sight

She was a nervous wreck but it helped that Jake was holding her hand. Her eyes slowly opened and at first everything was dark, but then she started seeing the shape of his face in front of her, it was hazy and still a little dark. “Jake, it’s not clear but I can see you.”

The doctor and nurse were smiling. “Give it a few seconds Mrs. Jake,” the doctor said and going over he checked her, looking into her eyes. “Very good, we’ll give you both some time alone. I’ll be back to check on you soon.”

When they were gone she grabbed Jake’s collar, pulling him closer. His face came into focus and she reached up to touch his face. “I can see you better now and you were right?”

“Right about what?” he asked, touching her neck and stroking her cheek with his thumb.

“When you told me you were drop-dead gorgeous.” She used her fingers tips to trace along his lips and tears fell down her face. “I can see clearly now, you have the most incredible brown eyes,” she said as she stared into them.

He looked
