CHAPTER 6
I woke up cranky the next morning. I didn't get enough sleep last night and my back ached from the way I slept. Untop of it all, I got my period today and my stomach cramped badly. I slept in a bit late this morning so I missed breakfast. I took cleaning supplies and headed to the king's room. I knocked and opened. A naked girl lay sprawled on the bed. Great. Now I was pissed. She got up and yawned as she picked her yellow dress from the floor. I thought the king hated half-breeds but here he was fucking all half-breeds within the perimeter.
I smiled sweetly at her as she exited the room. I stripped the bedsheet with anger and tossed them on the floor. God I wanted to fucking break something. Preferably the king's head. He walked out of the bathroom with sweatpants that hung low on his hips. He sniffed and looked around. I turned away from him and continued cleaning. He strode to me and turned me around.

I woke up on a bed, face down. Extreme pain travelled down my back as I tried to stand. A firm hand pushed me back gently. I was turned around gently until my back rested on the bed. I took in the unfamiliar room. Kyros loomed over me, a small bottle with red liquid in his hands and a gentle smile on his face. I smiled back at him.He lifted my head gently and poured the substance down my throat. It tasted bitter. As soon as I swallowed, an intense burning started from my stomach upwards to my throat. I clutched my stomach as pain erupted. I screamed loudly. Hands gripped me firmly as I doubled over and threw up. Thick blood poured out of my mouth. The hands holding me left me and I felt the prick of a needle. The pain diminished gradually until I lost sense of my surroundings.I woke up with a pounding head and a dry throat. Two men were talking.

"Come in" Thane called out. Kyros stepped in. Jairus cleaned his mouth, giving me a smile and nodded at Kyros as he left."My king" he bowed his head in greeting."What do you want?""I came to seek your permission on behalf of Esme." he looked between us."Whatever for?""She wants to volunteer at the infirmary""No" my heart sank."My king...."Thane interrupted him "If that is all you may leave now." It's been a month since I began working at the infirmary and I've managed not to get caught. Lily has been transferred full time to the infirmary so I get to see her a lot. Kyros on the other hand has been extremely sweet and nice to me. But he didn't make me feel the way Thane did. He didn't make my heart flutter or beat wildly. I didn't feel sparks whenever we touched.He took be to a clearing today with a small stream. We sat with our feet in the water throwing stones."Have you ever thought of having a mate?"
