CHAPTER 24~HER EMERALD EYES

~REIGN~

Tarik was going crazy.

He wanted out, and his ache to push free to be with our mate grew, yet I couldn’t let him take charge. I needed to be in control to get a clear assessment of the situation, and letting Tarik out would prevent that. He was more of a—do first, then think/talk later—kind of wolf, and this wasn’t the time for that.

‘Mate, mate needs me.’ Tarik chanted, prancing around in my head, and I could feel the extent of his agitation.

‘Calm down and let me focus; we will get to her and give her what she needs, but I need you to stay calm so I can focus.’

Tarik responded with a deviant grumble, but he heeded my suggestion and stopped trying to push forward.

My eyes remained on the rogues. The one looming over my mate had taken careful steps back after my warning growl, but none of the rogues made any attempt to flee. I wasn’t surprised by this because they were rogues, and in their feral states, common sense was a luxury out of their living range.
