Chapter 18

Scarlette and Gabriel ran through the woods, their hearts pounding in their chests. They had lost track of time and didn't know how long they had been running. The only thing they knew for sure was that they were being chased, and they had to keep moving. They couldn't afford to be caught.

"What the hell is going on?" Scarlette asked, her voice shaking with fear.

"I don't know," Gabriel replied, his eyes scanning the trees. "But we have to keep moving."

Scarlette nodded, her eyes darting from left to right. She could feel the presence of their pursuers, but she couldn't pinpoint their location. It was like they were being followed by ghosts.

Suddenly, they heard a loud rustling coming from their left. Gabriel motioned for Scarlette to follow him as he veered right. They ran as fast as they could, but it wasn't long before they heard the rustling again, this time behind them.

"Shit," Gabriel cursed, looking over his shoulder. "Scarlette, we have to split up. It's our only chance."
