7 Slow down

Hanna looked at Andien like she was seeing her for the first time while the face in front of her was the face made by Erlangga, a renowned plastic surgeon.

Hanna shook her head as she did not know Andien personally and her background.

"So you are Kenan's wife? How long have you known him?"

Andien smiled. She wasn't a fool who couldn't catch Kenan and Hanna's gestures when talking in the treatment room earlier. As a doctor, Hanna wouldn't have spoken to Kenan like that especially since Kenan was a man of considerable influence.

"Not long compared to you," Andien replied, raising both of Hanna's eyebrows.

"Me? What does that have to do with me?"

"I don't know because the only one who can answer that is you," Andien replied carefully.

Hanna smiled then shook her head. "I only got to know him when he forced me to handle Mrs. Anjani who he said was his closest confidante."

"Really?"

Hanna nodded then began to explain how she opposed Kenan's wishes to keep Anjani from being moved to a better ward in line with Kenan's status.

"He won't do it," Andien muttered .

"However, now there's you who can handle everything. You don't worry, I will always provide information about Anjani even if it violates my oath as a doctor," Hanna promised, much to Andien's relief.

Andien was grateful that Kenan forced Hanna to take care of Anjani so that she could get information even without meeting Anjani directly.

That day Andien decided to meet Tom, a broker introduced to her by her friend Erlangga.

"Good afternoon, Andien?" greeted Tom as Andien walked up to the desk number Tom had mentioned on the phone.

"Right. Sorry I have some work to finish first," Andien greeted while extending her hand.

"I just arrived too and frankly I'm very curious," Tom said after they shook hands.

Andien's beautiful eyebrows rose when she heard Tom's words. "Curious?"

"That's right."

"What are you curious about? Didn't Doctor Erlangga explain why I wanted to see you?"

"Not entirely. Doctor Erlangga only said that a good friend of his was interested in Mr. Kenan Prayoga's company shares," Tom replied.

"I think Doctor Erlangga's explanation was very clear, what else is missing?" Andien asked back.

"The reason why you only want shares that are not sold freely."

"Because I want to be involved exclusively, not just in name," Andien replied firmly.

Tom watched Andien. There was a high level of seriousness and Tom judged that Andien was willing to do anything as long as she could have a stake in Kenan's company.

"Since you are a friend of Doctor Erlangga, I will try to get information as soon as possible," Tom promised.

"Haven't you been looking for a buyer for a while?" Andien smiled.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm not blind at all, Tom. I know some of the minority shareholders are having difficulties. I could have urged them to sell it to me."

"But you didn't because you didn't want Kenan to know who you were?" laughed Tom.

Andien joined in the laughter because it was just as likely that Tom was also investigating who would meet him first.

"So?"

"I'm going to help you. Not because you have a grudge against Kenan, but because I owe Doctor Erlangga my life," Tom replied.

"Thank you."

As per the agreement, Andien paid only a portion of the total amount sold and the rest would be paid on the day of the handover.

"Why didn't you increase the number of shares you had before? Why use a new name?" Tom asked after they had completed the transaction.

"Because Mark knows the name is mine," Andien replied calmly.

"Mark? Kenan's lawyer and confidant?" Tom asked with a furrowed brow.

"That's right. There's no way I would let Mark know that I infiltrated Kenan's company."

Tom watched Andien closely. He didn't know much about Andien and her personal life. Tom only knew that Andien used another name as a minority shareholder in Tom's not-so-famous company.

'But why did you choose a company that is so underdeveloped that it barely gets any attention?" Tom asked again.

"Because it's easier to enter through an unguarded door. Kenan has always taken good care of his company and I'm not sure he would let a new player in so easily," Andien replied.

"I know there are other reasons and I won't push you. My advice is not to let yourself get too greedy because it makes you careless," Tom advised.

"Thank you, Tom. It's very nice to meet you."

They shook hands and Andien accepted Tom's promise that he would help her whenever she needed it.

Slowly, but surely Andien managed to gain control of the shares of Kenan's subsidiary until the man was furious when he learned that his subsidiary was about to change hands.

"Mark, set up my meeting with Angela right away. I want to know why she wants a lesser-known and developed company!" Kenan ordered Mark.

It had only been two months since he left Indonesia for work, but the information he was getting was making Kenan's blood boil.

"Do you know who Anggela is?" Kenan asked Mark.

"No, I don't. Of the owners whose shares have been transferred, they've never met in person. Angela is always represented by Tom," Mark replied.

An expletive flew out of Kenan's mouth as soon as his ears heard Tom's name. He knew that Tom had always been a thorn in the flesh that made his flesh and eyes hurt, but he didn't expect that Tom was intent on betraying him.

"Tell Tom to come see me!" Kenan ordered just as Mark finished talking on the phone.

"Tom is not in Jakarta right now. He's been in New York for two days. You must have forgotten that you gave Tom the task of settling the dispute," Mark reminded.

Another expletive came out of Mark's mouth and the man tried to avoid it. He knew Kenan quite well and he also wouldn't risk being around Kenan when the man's emotions were high.

"Miss Angela will arrive after recess," Mark told Kenan who was placing a finger on his forehead.

"Mark, I want you to prepare all the information about Angela as well as the reason why she bought shares from an unprofitable company!" Kenan ordered.

"Okay."

Mark walked out of Kenan's office and started doing his job. He was so busy that he forgot to tell the receptionist in the lobby that Kenan would be meeting with Angela privately. Mark only remembered it when Altea mentioned that there was a woman who wanted to see Kenan.

"Send Anggela up, make sure no journalists or anyone unrelated comes in!" Mark ordered.
