"Who is this?" Lisa asked, her tone slightly impatient.

"Oh, you must be one of her workers. Please tell her that her future sister-in-law wants to speak with her," the teenage girly voice said, trying to sound important.

"Sister-in-law?" Adrienne muttered, her confusion evident as she tried to place the caller's identity.

"Hi Renee," Adrienne said, finally recognizing the voice on the other end of the line.

"Now that's the Adrienne's voice I know," Renee said, sounding relieved.

"How are you doing? I have been expecting your call since the day I gave you my number," Adrienne said, an undercurrent of disappointment in her voice.

"I didn't want to disturb you with calls or texts and honestly, I kinda forgot. Can you believe that? Can you imagine?" Renee teased, trying to lighten the mood and laughing at her own forgetfulness.

"Yeah, I know why. Ryan told me a boy you've liked for a while finally asked you to be his girlfriend. It's understandable how you forgot to call," Adrienne
