41: Unwanted Guest

I sat down anxiously on the couch in the living room. I looked at the clock, in a few minutes they'd be here. Valerie should be at the airport now, waiting for her.

Lorenzo's mother.

Was I ready to meet her? No.

Did I have a choice? No.

It would have helped if Maggie at least spoke about her, but according to her, Lorenzo's dad and mom had separated a long time ago and that was all the details I got. I knew there was something more, but I didn't want to intrude in their family matters.

No one speaks about their parents and no matter how hard I tried to fish for answers from Lorenzo, he gave me none.

My anxiety was literally over the roof. Knowing I have to keep a fake facade of being the good little perfect wife. What if I mess it all up? What if she sees through everything?

I couldn't afford that.

It was going to ruin Lorenzo's high reputations. And I didn't want to be the reason why his private business would be on the media. Not for his sake, but for Maggie's sake.
