CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT: FIXING THINGS

Johnny was discharged two weeks later, and for some reason, Jayden insisted on driving them home in his expensive Mercedes Benz. He got his way as he was wont to, but when they reached home, it wasn’t what they knew.

They had not been in it in almost a month, with Alisa spending most of her time at the hospital and sleeping in a near hotel with her clothes and bills sponsored by Jayden. Meals were also fully handled by him as they never really had any food at home, and so they expected it to be overgrown with weeds and dilapidated.

But the house had been repainted, and for a moment Johnny asked if someone else had moved in or they had just gotten to the wrong house.

Alisa was surprised too, but she had a hint as to what had happened.

“Welcome home, Johnny.” Jayden smiled, turning to look at him in the back seat. “I had to do a little homecoming for you.”

Johnny managed a smile. He did not like this and he still had not forgiven Jayden.
