Camilo's Point of View

The convoy came in later than I had stipulated. By over an hour. I could feel my jaw clench as the time ticked on. As minutes became an hour. What had kept them so long? There could have been an ambush somewhere along the road.

Several scenarios played out in my mind. The next one was worse than the last. Each second felt like an eternity. This was what it meant to have a mate. Someone you cared for. Although she didn't particularly care for you.

But they had arrived in one piece, at least. Farren's safety was the only priority I had at the moment. Seeing her in that hospital bed drove my protective instincts wild. Rode me to the edge of my sanity. They had hurt her and I wouldn't let that happen again.

The Amador manor was the best place for her to be. The security had been doubled. Several new escape routes had been established. My mother and sister had their own guards assigned to them. Nothing would harm my family.
