CHAPTER 37

When I got home it was after dawn and my father was in the living room looking very disheveled and very worried and anxious about something.

Sandra was also in the living room, sitting on the couch looking bored and like she was about to go to sleep.

“Ava.” Dad yelled running over to me and hugging me.

“Wow. I didn’t think you’d miss me this much.” I said.

“Of course I would. Look at you. Are you okay?” He asked, looking me up and down because I was covered in blood.

“I’ll be fine. The injuries are healed. I had to take the long way home because I didn’t know if there were any other hunters out there.” I said.

“That was smart. I wish you had called.”

“I couldn’t risk it. In case they heard me. I tried to mind link you, but I couldn’t get through.” I said.

“I know. I’m so sorry. There were a string of kidnappings last night.” He said.

“How’s Miles?” I asked.

“He’s going to be fine. It was just a bad accident, but he’ll be out of the hospital today.” He said. I guess
