“I cannot understand Circe or Cathy in the slightest.” Catherine mumbled, staring at their interlocking hands high above their heads. “How could they resist the pull caused by the mark?”

“Precisely because she lived her entire life here.” Silas answered, startling her from her thoughts, and she glanced over the arm of the couch to see him leaning against the door, arms crossed, eyes hidden behind his odd glasses. “You were the one to respond to them, though, so I believe I now understand what happened.
