Silas knew he would face punishment, but since Catherine got pregnant, he refused to let her emotions rule her judgement. Circe had to die. Attacking the Tatiana was illegal, and punishable by death, and he was the one who promised to carry out the punishment. What he did not expect was for Zion to take her side. Thinking of a fitting punishment for Circe would place stress on her while she was pregnant. Though Silas hoped to get out of their marriage, too. Part of him still wondered what to do. It felt like something was happening to his heart, and anytime she was near, he almost lost control. So, his reasonings were selfish.
