"From a million miles afar, looks up a woman. Eyes glistening with tears, shedding for the man lying at cosmos." Despaire Grevett has always hated her name for its peculiarity. In spite of it, the name itself resonates with her life. As she discovered the world of Terralona, the dark secrets of her identity were unearthed. Mysteries that we're long-forgotten were unveiled. Amidst her journey of seeking the truth, she met Cross Trevese Ashmeir, a man of her age who describes himself as the absolute epitome of tragedy. They were two kindred souls in two different worlds. But how can Despaire survive the fact that she is the root of Cross' tragedy? One lie and a disclosed secret, either of the two bring chaos. Will she be able to withstand the fate that was given to both of them? Or drown by the horror of the blood running through her veins?

Prologue
"DO YOU believe that extraordinary people are living among us? They can't be seen in roadways, streets, malls, or any places you can think of. They are hiding. But for them ... we are the ones who are hidden. " "Is she really teaching or telling stories?" I chuckled at my friend Ashley’s complaint, looking as though she can't contain her grimace while staring at the woman in front of us. She's about to open her mouth and speak again but I signaled her to be quiet. She stared at me for a second before leaning back to her chair.  I tilted my head and shrugged.  "In this vast universe is another universe full of humans with supernatural abilities," the teacher continued.  A yawn escaped my lips as I rubbed my eyes. One of my classmates raised her hand which made my eyebrows narrow.  I glared at my star-studded sister who was wearing a red above-the-knee halter neck dress. Her straight, black hair was loose with a green

Chapter 1: Arrows at Nightfall
IN SILENCE, I walked down the wide pavement, pressing my fingertips. There aren’t too many buses wandering today and I don't know why. It's been an hour since I noticed something odd. Every gust of wind was heavy, and the surroundings were exceptionally quiet. Silence is so unusual for this place. Most of the time, this avenue is filled with busy vehicles but I can hardly find anything now. Not that it's a big deal but it's really weird. Seems like something strange is going on, or maybe I'm just too paranoid?I repeatedly shook my head and took a deep breath. Why am I bothered, anyway? It's not like this is the first time. This street was once silent and eerie. That was before when no drunks were hanging out here.I was taken aback when a loud ringtone rattled my ears. I took a deep breath to calm myself before answering the phone call."Hello?""Hey, idiot! Where are you?!"I instantly pulled myself from my phone when a shrill scream

Chapter 2: The Escape
"LOCK her up. It's the king's order," said the man carrying a quiver of arrows. That's right. Arrows... They planned this all along! The arrows, the invaders — it was all planned in order to abduct me! What's the matter with my life and it's so messed up? I can't think of anyone who has grudges at me, except perhaps Alexis. But she'll never go too far to this extent! I crinkled my nose at the stinky wet floor I am standing on. Narrowing my eyes, I glanced at the rusty chains and bars in between the four mossy brick walls surrounding me. It has been half an hour since I woke up and this is where I found myself — a stinky dungeon. For the past few minutes, my ears were filled with groans and cries of agony from distinct voices behind the bars. It's enraging! How dare they seize people with no abilities to fight for themselves! I dragged my feet closer to the metal bars and held on to them. My hands were as co

Chapter 3: Audowin Fortress
LOUD neighs of horses greeted me as I step on the grass field. Narrowing my eyes, trying to see things from afar, I forced a sigh and wandered my sight on the horses gathered around the large area. Medium tents are erected for the horses' shade. Yvonne held my hand and pressed it slightly. "Welcome to Audowin," she said. "We're heading to the Fortress, it's only a 10-minute walk, though. Ready?"Audowin Fortress. I don't have a goddamn idea what that is. A castle? Some sort of a hideout? Headquarters?I can't deny, this place looks pleasing. Just like the ones in the movies where buildings and houses are made of bricks and stones. Carriages and horses were strolling everywhere instead of modern vehicles. There were also small shops I can't even name, selling weird items. The streets were either so wide or so narrow and for the four of us, we took the dim and narrow one. "We don't bite. Don't worry," Exi said behind me.
