Chapter 2: Dinner

♡ Angela

I did a happy dance when I brought the groceries home, seeing the guests haven't arrived. My mom didn't scold me as well for being late, which was a good thing. But, it all went to drain when I asked mom that why have the guests not arrived?

"Sweetheart, they don't arrive until seven, go get refreshed and ready," my mom informed me before taking the groceries to the kitchen.

WHAT? My mouth dropped.

So I ran at the speed of light, just for this? To hear that all my efforts were in vain? I closed my eyes, trying to control the burning anger in my chest. Why? Why me, God? Was it something I did? Or are you just having fun watching an innocent little girl like me, struggle?

My shoulders hunched as I marched silently to my room, thinking of the tragedic event that had just happened to me.

Huffing, I sat on my bed to clear my head.

Thinking back to the whole event, I realized, if I knew that beforehand, maybe I wouldn't have bumped into the stranger. Instantly, a bright smile lit my face. I do have to admit, he was a hot stranger.

But, as soon as the thought hit my mind, I shrugged it off. I couldn't get involved with a guy. All they bring along with them is trouble. Not like I can't tackle them if I need to but, I still resort to staying away from them.

Blake taught me that.

Shaking my head off the thoughts, I got up to take a shower and went to the kitchen to see what my mom was up to. My eyes lit up when I saw that she was cooking steak with her special red sesame sauce. And let me tell you it's the best.

"Mom, I'm hungry!" I'm pretty sure you can see the hearts instead of my eyes right now, just like those cartoon characters who see the things they like.

"Just wait for another forty minutes, sweetheart." Bumming! Just like that it felt like a pin stabbed in the fully pumped balloon.

I groaned, "Alright, where's dad?"

"He is still at work, he's been quite busy with the patients now-a-days," she explained, as she flipped the delicious looking meat. I would never be a vegetarian. I love meat. At that instant, my stomach decided to embarrass me by letting out a voracious growl and my mom laughed.

Humf. What is there to laugh? I haven't eaten anything since lunch.

Half an hour later, I was ready. I already had a shower, so, I just changed into my dress--which my dear mother had forced me to wear, stating it a necessity-- because I have to look decent (I mean what is wrong with a shirt and trousers), since dad's friend, who is a businessman, is coming with his family.

I never knew dad had a businessman friend.

Hence, now, I was wearing a nice sea-green high-low dress. It had a same sea green belt on the waist and was strapless with a sweetheart neckline. The upper part was covered with lace and made of chiffon. All in all, it was beautiful. I did minimum make up, the least my mom allowed me. I put on the eye liner and mascara and put on the lip gloss since I don't like lipsticks that much, I usually prefer glosses or chapsticks.

After that, I put on a light shade of blush and that's it. I was ready. Lastly, I put on my pink stilettos and walked down. There were still 10 minutes left.

Soon, the doorbell rang.

"Mom, I'll check!" I called out.

"Alright, honey!"

Rushing towards the door, I opened it to see my dad standing in front of me. A smile hit my lips as I greeted him and took his bag from his hand.

"Hey, dad!"

"Hey, sunshine, you are looking absolutely beautiful just like your dad," he commented and leaned down after looking here and there, "but don't tell your mom that."

"I heard that!" mom exclaimed, standing beside the kitchen door with her eyes narrowed and both her hands resting on her waist, glaring at us.

Dad and I looked at each other and laughed and soon mom joined us in our laughing fit.

At exactly seven, the doorbell rang again and I went to open the door. I pulled the lock and opened it to see that there was a man, a woman and a kid who looked to be 6 or 7.

The man, I assumed, was my dad's friend. He looked about my dad's age. He was wearing a grey Armani suit with a white crisp shirt underneath along with a deep green tie, matching his wife.

For a man his age, he was still pretty handsome. His hair were styled perfectly on the side and his blue eyes, hiding under the shadows of his thick lashes, couldn't go unnoticed. He had a straight nose and thin lips, with a slight stubble decorating his face.

The woman was equally beautiful with silky platinum blonde hair that complimented her olive skin tone. Her hair were put up in a nice updo. She had beautiful hazel eyes that stood out a thin upturened nose and thin lips adorned with nude lipstick.

She wore a nice casual green dress with gold heels that made her 2-4 inches taller than me. Her look was completed with a light gold chain adorned around neck and beautiful teardrop earrings.

"Hello," I greeted them with a smile.

"Hello, sweety, you must be Angela," the woman said, smiling widely, "you've grown into a beautiful lady."

"Yes, I am."

Before she could say anything else, my mom came to the door and welcomed them in. I was about to close the door and follow my mom when I heard a voice.

"Wait!" Abruptly, I glanced up to see that a boy was running towards me. Confused, I stood standing there. He stopped before me and panted, "Hey!" he grinned. Upclose, I could see he was really handsome. He had platinum blonde hair, and blue eyes. He was wearing a grey button up shirt and black pants.

I smiled back and raised my brows, "Hey you back but who are you?"

He chuckled, "I'm their extra package," he pointed towards his parents, I guess.

"Oh." Great! Applause! Applause! Applause!

Funk! What is Lady Gaga doing on my mind right now?

"By the way, my names Andrew!" he smiled, and I melted right there. I mean how could someone be so pretty.

Know what, this is totally unfair. Beauty should have been equally distributed among all the people of the world and not be given to only one person. I mean look at him, he's really hot!

Not more than the road guy...

Seriously, the best name you could come up with was 'road guy'? Wow, Great! Soo smart!

Shut up, conscience!

"Well, I didn't ask for it but it's okay."

He raised his brow before he showed me his dimple, "And what's your name, pretty lady?" he asked, taking my hand upto his lips and placing a soft kiss there. Wait! How did my hand even go there?

"I don't tell strangers my name," I frowned, taking my hand back. I am not falling for his tricks. He looks like a bad boy who break girls hearts.

He smirked, "Who said we're strangers? Our parents are friends. That makes us friends, too."

I looked at him, incredulously, "Dude, I seriously don't get your logic! Anyway, I'm Angela."

"Yeah, so Angela, you know usually people invite their guests in," his voice snapped me out of my reverie. Oh, I forgot...

"Sorry, come in!" I stepped aside almost falling in the process. I'm really clumsy. But, luckily he caught me and smiled again. No! Don't smile! I don't like pretty smiles; they make you habitual of them and when people leave you, those enchanting smiles haunt you. Blinking out of the thoughts, I stood up straight and lead him to the living room where my parents were talking with Andrew's parents. Then they saw us entering the room, together might I add and their eyes turned wide along with their grins. Seriously, haven't they seen a girl and a guy come in a room together? Andrew and I just stared at them before glancing at each other, awkwardly.

"So, you guys already met?" My mom finally broke the silence.

"Yes, mom."

"Alright, Angela meet Zander and Olivia, and this little, adorable kid here, is their youngest son, Jayden. And you've already met Andrew."

Andrew and I took our seats as mom explained her highschool story.

"Zander and Olivia are our high school besties. You know like we spent all the time together. I also remember our prank on Mr. Harnold in senior year." That earned a laughter from the group. "Olivia was always the loud one, where as I was the shy girl and that's how we met two bad boy's of the school who thought too high of them-"

"Hey!" Both of the 'boys' protested.

"--but then eventually we fell in love. Then after graduating from college, we all got married. We even married at the same date. That was such a great day," mom reminisced while the others gave a nod of agreement. "Okay, how did you guys like our mini love story?" She asked, eagerly.

"Quite cliché, isn't it mom?" I told her. "I think I've read about a story like this on Wattpad and GoodNovel."

"Angela! You've been spending a lot of time on that. Would you focus on your studies?!"

I shut my eyes! Sh*t, I just revealed my own secret!

I opened my eyes to see her reaction. She was looking at me with a 'I'll see you later' face.

Sigh. Every poor wattpader's life story.

"So have you two met before? He goes to your school, sweety," his mother asked me.

"No. Actually, we haven't," I answered.

"We just met for the first time, mom," Andrew added.

"Aww...it's okay. Now you have!" she exclaimed, enthusiastically.

I looked at her confused.

"Mommy, is she going to marry my bwother?" Little Jayden asked with a confused expression on his face.

"Oh, sweety, that's a great idea, actually! Oh my God, I can't wait to start planning for their wedding!" she exclaimed in excitement and was practically jumping on the sofa while I choked on my own spit.

"Mom!" "What!" Andrew and I exclaimed, simultaneously. Our eyes were wide as well as our mouth. Oh my God! I'll die of embarrassment. I just wish the ground would open and swallow me, I can't live with this.

"Honey, I think it's too early for that topic," his father intervened, placing a hand on his wife's shoulder.

Thank God!

"But honey, they look so good together!"

"Uh, guys, the dinner's ready!" Mom spoke, ending the awkwardness as we all went to the dining room. Thank God it ended. Thank you, mom. I really love you. I would do anything for you. I really don't want to discuss this now. I mean Andrew's really a good guy from what I know and he's really hot, but I can't just think of wedding to soon. I'm seventeen, I'm still too young. I need to live my life to the fullest and not think of marrying and babies.

Ew.

Dinner went really well aside from the little remarks of Mrs. King about Andrew and I. Jayden was doing some cute things which made made me like him more. I love kids!

"Mommy, would you get me a new superman kit? Please?" he pleaded making puppy dog eyes. Oh my Gosh! If he was asking me I would have totally fallen for it.

It was 9:30 pm and time for our guests to go. I was sad about them to go because I had really great time as aunt Olivia shared some stories about Andrew's childhood much to his dismay.

"Bye! I'll miss you, Celia, Liam." As she hugged my mom, my dad and I. Uncle Zander also hugged my dad, mom and I. My parents also hugged them along with Andrew and little Jayden. We had gotten along pretty well.

"Bye!" My parents and I waved enthusiastically at them.

"I'll miss them!" My mom said, ruefully.

"We'll visit them, next time, honey!" assured my dad, while they went to their room.

I went to my room and laid down on my bed.

Before going to sleep two people were in my mind,

Road guy...

Andrew...
