168: World aside

Third Person POV

Lilian lay in her bed, staring at the ceiling as the minutes ticked by. Sleep evaded her, her mind a tumultuous sea of emotions and thoughts. Her wolf paced restlessly within her, agitated and yearning.

She turned over, trying to find a comfortable position, but it was no use. The bond she felt with Caleb was like a persistent itch she couldn't scratch, a need that gnawed at her insides.

With a frustrated sigh, she threw back the covers and got out of bed. The cold floorboards against her feet did nothing to soothe her restless spirit. She wrapped a shawl around her shoulders and quietly slipped out of her room, the moonlight casting soft shadows in the dimly lit corridor.

Her steps were silent as she made her way through the palace halls, the silence of the night amplifying the sound of her own heartbeat. She knew where she was going.

There was only one place she could go. She needed to see Caleb. To feel his presence. To understand what had happened between them.
