56: Hello, little fox

Aurora’s POV

I entered my apartment, a sense of unease crept over me, prickling at the back of my neck like unseen fingers. Despite the silence of the empty space, my instincts screamed that I wasn't alone.

With cautious steps, I placed my bag on the table, keeping my senses alert for any signs of intrusion. I flicked on the lights, half-expecting to be greeted by a lurking figure or a sudden attack, but the room remained still and empty.

Frowning, I scanned the shadows, my muscles tense with anticipation. I inhaled deeply, searching for any unfamiliar scents that might betray the presence of an intruder, but the air was devoid of anything out of the ordinary. Leo was asleep.

The tension ebbed from my frame replaced by a wave of frustration, I let out a sigh, my shoulders slumping in defeat. Perhaps it was just my imagination playing tricks on me, or the lingering effects of a long day. Or Eva’s scare that she could feel Alpha Caden close by. He isn’t here.
