86: Uncertainty or desire?

Aurora’s POV

"Alpha Caden," I greeted him quietly, my voice barely above a whisper as I met his gaze with a mixture of resignation and defiance. I knew that he was displeased with me, though the reason for his discontent remained a mystery to me.

He remained silent for a moment, his eyes boring into mine with an intensity that made me squirm uncomfortably under his scrutiny. He doesn’t look happy at all. Like something has happened and it is weighing down on him.

"Aurora," he finally spoke, his voice low and measured as he addressed me by my given name. "What are you doing out here? The reception is in full swing, and yet here you are, hiding away in the shadows."

I swallowed hard, acutely aware of the weight of his gaze upon me. "I needed some air," I replied evasively, my voice tinged with a hint of defensiveness. "The wedding... it's a lot to take in and I don’t like weddings."

Alpha Caden regarded me for a moment longer, his expression unreadable as he seemed to weigh my words.
