Chapter 27

Fiona’s POV

“Take a deep breath,” Rin advised

I groaned painfully feeling my back muscles pull tightly. I had woken up uneasy and my body felt like it would collapse. I remained seated on the back porch surrounded by the garden. I have been by myself all day. Isla seems to be carrying out some major work in the palace. She only came by to drop my food. I couldn’t cope with staying all alone in the house and had to step outside.

I am grateful at least that there is a garden that shields me from the main building. If not I might have been subjected to seeing the four walls every day. A light wince escaped my lips as the pain struck again. I inhaled deeply letting out a strained gasp. This is not the life I planned for myself.

At least I get to talk to Basi and customers at the tavern every day. Now it is different, no friend, no family. I am all by myself. Nobody wants to be around me and it makes me think I might have a cursed fate.

“No, you don’t!” Someone said behind me. I turned
