6-Rejection

Ted’s POV

“Douglas,” the King's command makes everything stop.

Douglas gently helps Lynn fix her dress, and they hold hands as they walk toward us.

I am finally able to stand with Carl’s support.

“Ted,” She whimpers as she sees me. “He chose me. I’m going to be a Duchess.”

He leans in and kisses her neck again, making me unstable.

Carl and King Joseph hold me in a standing position.

Douglas looks down and fixes his pants. “Brother, let me explain.”

“There is nothing you can say. You are a disgrace to this family,” Joseph tells him.

“I’ll reject Ted that way he can have a second chance. I won’t be mated anymore, and Douglas will be free to choose me,” Lynn giggles. “See, easy fix.”

King Joseph tilts his head to one side as he stares at Lynn.

“Alpha, what do you want?” King Joseph asks me.

My wolf is growling and snarling.

“I, Alpha Theodore Sol, reject Lynn Sol as my mate and Luna,” I manage to say, but I have to lean on King Joseph. He holds me up.

“That took a lot of strength,” I hear Queen Amelia say. “Your pack is lucky, Alpha Sol, to have an Alpha as strong as you. I pray the goddess bring you a second chance worthy of you.”

“As for you, Douglas,” King Joseph says, turning to his brother. “You and your, whatever she is, are banished from the palace. Take her and go. I forbid her from returning to Sol pack until her son is 18. She loses all claim to him and to anything she left at the pack. Leave now. Gamma Carl, take your Alpha home. He needs to rest. I need his brain and strength for the fights ahead.”

“Wait, what?” Lynn squeals. “We are banished, as in not, allowed to live here?”

Does she even care that she is rejected?

“Accept the rejection, or find yourself killed,” King Joseph tells her.

“Accept it, Lynn,” Douglas tells her.

“I, Lynn Sol, accept the rejection,” Lynn shrugs as another wave of pain hits me. “So, I’m free again, right?”

“You are faithless. Stop dirtying my home with your presence,” Queen Amelia orders. “Go, both of you.”

Douglas pulls Lynn away. I hear her scream in pain, and I am numb to it.

“She finally feels it,” King Joseph shakes his head.

“Let’s get you home, Alpha,” Carl says.

“Out the side,” Queen Amelia tells us. “I had your car brought around there. No cameras.”

Carl gets me in the car and starts to drive. I hear him mumbling into his phone. As everything fades to black.

“Alpha?” I hear a familiar voice. “Alpha, can you hear me?”

I blink and see the sun. I’m in a hospital bed and it’s Bill talking to me.

“What the hell?” I groan as I try to move but everything hurts.

“Yeah, just lay still for a bit,” Bill tells me. “Lynn is the talk to the werewolf world. The cheating Luna.”

“Do I still bear her mark?” I ask.

“No, we think that is why you passed out. Photos of her leaving the party with Douglas, no longer a Duke, show hers is gone too.”

“I bet everyone thinks I’m a weak Alpha,” I say with a huff.

“Oh, it is very opposite,” Crystal tells me. “Queen Amelia and King Joseph are commenting on your strength and intelligence. Not to mention your class for not interrupting the party. You came out smelling like roses. We left out the passed out for two days part.”

“I was out for two days?” I ask.

“Yeah,” Crystal nods.

“Zach?” I ask, moving, not worried about the pain.

“Is well cared for,” Bill promises. “He is in in the nursery with his two best friends. Daisy and Tony.”

“Tony?” I ask, leaning back. Then, it clicks, “Betty had the baby! Our next Beta!”

Bill beams with pride. “He is a handsome devil. Looks like his Dad.”

I smile. “Man, that is wonderful. I am sorry Lynn managed to ruin what should have been a great day.”

“Betty is all too happy to see her never return here,” Crystal smiles. “I can say we all are. The pack is rallied around you. They want you as Alpha and will accept no substitutes.”

I nod. “I want to get back to work. I just need to wrap my head around what happened that night,” I tell them. “Where is Carl?”

“Training the littles. I’ll have him come up here,” Crystal tells me.

“Thanks,” I nod.

It took four days and Carl telling me the story six times before I got my head wrapped completely around the idea. I don’t have a plan to survive yet, but I know for my son, I have to pull it together. I can’t let a faithless female keep me down.

“Good to have you back in the office, Alpha,” Stacey, an Omega in the packhouse, tells me as she brings me coffee.

“Thank you, Stacey,” I tell her with a smile.

“I know losing a mate is difficult. Let me know if you need anything at all,” Stacey smiles as she leans over my desk a little. I can see she has her top three buttons undone. She is giving me a great view.

“Thank you for understanding,” I smirk at her over my coffee cup. “I am not ready for……’comfort’ just yet.”

Stacey smiles at me. “When you are ready, I will be here.”

She leaves as Bill comes in with raised eyebrows.

“Well, well, well Alpha, seems you can have your pick of the pack,” Bill jokes.

“Yeah, it seems so. What are you bringing me?” I ask as he hands me a file.

“The final treaties with Onslaught Rage,” Bill takes a seat. “Why do Hunters name their groups such awful names?”

I laugh as I read, “I have no idea.”

“Anyway. We got everything we wanted and so did they. So, I guess it’s just waiting for your signature,” Bill tells me.

I read over the documents and agree these are what we talked about.

“Does Yoel know about my change in situation?” I ask.

“How does it affect the treaties?” Bill shrugs. “You are still the leader. No one is challenging you.”

I nod, and then sign.

I guess life goes on.
