After a few minutes, I stood there, watching the empty space Alex had just been in earlier, my anger dissipating with every second.

I couldn’t even muster up the strength to stay angry at all, it was like he sapped away all the energy I had in one go.

What had I expected? That because he was my mate, he would be stuck to my hip? Because Lucian wasn’t around, he would be by my side all the time? It felt like Alex was the only one between us living in reality.

I was still lingering between fantasy and the truth, interweaving the two together expecting my imagination to turn into reality.

Because of Lucian, I had set unrealistic standards for my mate already and now I’m paying for it. But Alex could have been more mature about the situation than ignoring me entirely. If he had spoken to me about what was wrong, we could have figured it out, but he didn’t and that made me incredibly upset.
