Right after Lucian left, the guards immediately made a barrier right in front of my cell, with wicked grins on their faces. I paid them no mind though, instead, I looked at Martha from my vantage point through the cell and managed to catch a glimpse of her.

“Are you really a member of the Dark Fur Pack? You don’t look all that to me,” one of the guards commented, eyeing me up and down cockily.

“Exactly, him being part of the faction is bullshit. People from the Dark Fur are beasts. He looks more like a cub to me,” another one said, and I spared him a quick glance before looking away. He was very scrawny and weak for a guard. It made me want to snort.

“Nah, I can tell that he’s one of them, he has that outlandish look in his eyes. Besides, I don't think he will be crazy enough to impersonate a Dark Fur when one of them just died here, right?”

Another guard quipped. “My main question is; how did a fucker like you get a mate?”

The rest of them snickered as if what he said was remot
